A look at the new Sunlight campervan range

Sunlight campervans range overview
This youthful German brand offers a range of Fiat and Peugeot-based campervans with different spec levels.
The original Sunlight campervan was called Cliff and all models since have developed from this, including the current Adventure, X and XX 20 Years Edition models.
Cliff models
But let’s start with the entry-level Cliff, because this kicks off the line-up with prices from only £53,790. There are three fixed bed models here, all based on the latest Peugeot Boxer, with four travel seats and two-plus-one berths.
The 540, 600 and 640 numbering indicates a choice of lengths, with the largest model offering lengthways sleeping instead of a transverse double bed at the rear.
Described as having “sleek looks, minimalist design”, these are campervans without frills or gimmicks. Instead, they focus on high-quality build and materials, as well as practical features such as USB ports, Isofix and reading lights that are movable on their rail fittings.
Vehicles are finished in white and come with a manual gearbox and steel wheels, but the spec can be enhanced with features such as gas/electric heating and a second leisure battery, as well as the £810 Basic-Pack (panoramic rooflight, shower equipment, washroom window and clothes rail, rotating table extension and a wide entrance step).
Adventure models
Next up, the Adventure models are “jam-packed with extras”, Sunlight says. Here, there are five models but the base vehicle switches to the Fiat Ducato and an awning, alloy wheels and painted front bumper are now included in the spec.
Again, three body lengths – 5.41m, 5.99m and 6.36m – are available but there are two layouts not offered in the entry-level range. The Cliff Adventure 601 comes with two transverse doubles at the back – one above the other.
Then the 602 manages to fit the lengthways rear single beds (similar to the 640) into the shorter, 5.99m van. Adventure models stat at £58,190, with the Basic-Pack included.
However, there are more possibilities to upgrade, with the Chassis Package, Digital Package and Safety Pack, as well as black, Lanzarote Grey or Campovolo Grey paint options and the RT Pack (£5,120) which adds a pop-top with roof bed.
Celebrating two decades
The Cliff XX 20 Years Edition commemorates two decades of the Sunlight brand, which hails from Erwin Hymer Group’s Capron factory. This limited edition, one-year-only model comes with a special upholstery, sporty graphics and an LTE/WiFi antenna.
There’s just one layout – the classic 600, with 5.99m overall length and a rear transverse double bed. Priced from £59,990, the XX is finished in metallic black and has part-leather seats, a washroom window, awning, black skid plate, leather steering wheel and matt black alloy wheels.
But, despite the enhanced spec, you can still add more, with various packs including the RT Pack with pop-top. An automatic gearbox, framed windows, second leisure battery, dinette bed and diesel heating are amongst the other extras listed
X for xtra
From £61,490, the Cliff X is the ‘deluxe campervan’ with premium furnishings, a swivel washroom and a panoramic overcab window. It is available in 600 (double bed) or 640 (single beds) versions and a pop-top can turn it into a family campervan.
It has framed windows, a flyscreened door and black awning as standard, while there’s a choice of four exterior colours and three seat fabrics. The automatic gearbox and diesel heating options are, once again, available here.
Options packs are the Chassis Package (electrically folding mirrors, rear parking sensors, blind spot assistant and electric parking brake) for £1,640, the Digital Package (automatic air-con, wireless phone charging, 10in radio and sat-nav, 7in digital instrument display and rear view camera) for £2,910 and the Safety Pack (full brake control with pedestrian detection, lane control, automatic lights and wipers, traffic sign and high beam recognition, Intelligent Speed Assist and drowsiness detection) at £970.
