Mega Mobil, a Slovenian high-quality campervan manufacturer, is attracting an ever-growing number of UK buyers.

Iain has been an avid camper since his very first night under canvas in his parents’ back garden, more years ago than he cares to remember. As a fully fledged gear geek he takes every opportunity to try out the latest camping gadgets when he’s out and about!

Mega Mobil is not a household name… yet. This family-owned manufacturer, which specialises in producing high-end campervans, has only been in the UK since 2024, yet is set to increase the number of its UK dealers from two (Go European and Chelston) to 10.

“We are already planning to expand the dealer network across the UK,” explains Adrien Maccagnan, Mega Mobil’s sales representative for the UK. To achieve this, it has appointed a dedicated UK agent – Dominic Price.

“Over the next couple of years, our goal is to establish a maximum of 10 trusted dealers, covering all regions – including one in Scotland, one in Wales and one in Ireland,” adds Dominic. “In England, we aim to position our dealers in a way that ensures balanced geographic coverage and gives each partner the space to build strong local relationships with their customers.”

This strategy is one of ensuring dealers have a dedicated region and so can offer customers a higher-quality service and long-term support. “Finding the right partners will be key,” says Dominic. “We’re looking for smaller, family-run businesses that share our values – a commitment to quality, integrity and customer satisfaction.”

As this dealer network grows, customers who are located further from a current Mega Mobil dealer than they would prefer, will be happy to learn Mega Mobil is considering the option to allow warranty and service work to be carried out by a non-franchised dealer closer to a customer’s home.

“Currently we would advise any customers to return to a Mega Mobil dealer for warranty work, but we would have no problem with anyone carrying out service work providing they contact us first for authorisation,” confirms Dominic.

The fear with any manufacturer that produces more to meet growing demand is that quality may slip as volumes grow. Mega Mobil has built its reputation over the last decade on high-quality premium campervans and it is confident that its current growth strategy will not be at the detriment to its well-earned reputation.

“We currently produce just over 400 vehicles per year and, with the opening of the UK market, we could increase production to around 500 units,” explains Adrien. “However, we do not intend to go beyond this volume under the current set-up, as maintaining the high quality of our campervans remains our top priority. Every vehicle we produce reflects our core philosophy: uncompromising quality, personalised solutions and delivering an exceptional travel experience to our customers.”

This philosophy of focusing on producing high-quality conversions and specialising in just one area – campervans – is something that is clearly more than just a philosophy, it is a passion!

“We have no plans to move into the coachbuilt motorhome market,” says Adrien. “Campervan conversions are our speciality – that’s what we’re passionate about, and we’re committed to doing it exceptionally well.”

And all the evidence points to Mega Mobil doing exactly that, which is why its 640 Lounge model won the Highly Commended title in this year’s Best Campervan Innovation award at the Out & About Live Campervan of the Year Awards. “Our philosophy is to design and build campervans that offer a high level of quality at a competitive price. We focus on premium craftsmanship, smart design and long-term durability,” says Dominic. “In addition, we make it a priority to work with experienced dealers who share our commitment to delivering outstanding customer support throughout the entire ownership journey.”

The Mega Mobil campervan range

The entire Mega Mobil range of campervans – which start in price with the Mega Classic 600 at £69,298 – is now available in the UK on a selection of four base vehicles – Fiat, Peugeot, MAN and Mercedes-Benz – and all in right-hand drive. All of its models also hold UK Whole Vehicle Type Approval and its EU equivalent, as well as COP (Conformity of Production) clearance, ensuring full compliance and quality control across its production line.

“We began with our models based on the Stellantis platforms (Fiat, Peugeot, etc), and the first MAN-based vehicles are now arriving at our dealers,” explains Adrien. “Mercedes-Benz-based models will follow, with our very first right-hand drive vehicle set to be presented at the NEC Show in October 2025.”

If you can’t make the October NEC show, don’t worry as Mega Mobil will also be at the February NEC show in 2026 and is also considering participating in additional local shows around the country.

While it has only been attracting British campervanners for a matter of months, buyers are already making their choice of favourite models clear – and it is no surprise it is the rear lounge models that are proving most popular.

Carrying the ‘Lounge’ name, all the campervans in this six-model range, from the compact two-berth Fiat Ducato-based 5.41m-long Lounge 540 to the range-topping MAN-based two-plus-two-berth 6.83m-long Mega Lounge 680 S, are already the favourites among British buyers.

“All of our Lounge models are proving very popular in the UK, thanks to their unique rear lounge layout,” confirms Adrien, who points out that there is one standout model in this best-selling range. “The Mega Lounge 640 features a classic UK rear U-shaped lounge layout, incorporating a drop-down bed that makes it easy to swap between daytime and night-time use. It boasts a large separate shower unit and there is always the option of adding a great-sized oven.”

British buyers have high expectations and this has not gone unnoticed by Mega Mobil. “The models we sell in the UK offer the same level of quality as those available in our other European markets,” confirms Dominic. “However, we do tend to spec the cabs with a higher level of equipment and driver conveniences than on the Continent. There is absolutely no compromise – UK customers benefit from the same high standards of build and finish, including premium 25mm Armaflex four-season insulation on the walls, sliding door, and rear doors, a 30mm XPS-insulated floor, and a generously equipped base vehicle as standard.”

Those buyers who have already been tempted by Mega Mobil campervans are a split between experienced campervanners who have owned several campervans or motorhomes beforehand and so know what they really want to younger couples and families who are looking for the lifestyle and freedom of a campervan.

“The more experienced buyers are looking to upgrade due to the equipment, quality and unique customisation we can offer,” explains Dominic. “And, we like to think we have a fresh up-to-date look about the brand for all the explorers out there.”

He adds that the campervan market has evolved significantly in recent years with buyers having higher expectations for quality, comfort and equipment. Therefore, Dominic says, vehicles have become more refined and better equipped. “What hasn’t changed is that people are still willing to invest in what brings them joy – their passions, their sense of freedom, their dreams.”

If your interest is piqued then head to this year’s October NEC show and the Mega Mobil stand as it will be showing for the first time in the UK its new Mercedes-based 600 and 700 MAX models.

And, if you’re considering investing in a new campervan, Adrien’s advice is excellent: “Take your time, do your research and compare what’s included in the standard specification versus the base prices you might see elsewhere. It’s not always easy to get it right the first or even the second time, but prioritising quality and clarity will always pay off in the long run.”

A short history of Mega Mobil

Mega Mobil was established 10 years ago as part of a specialist Slovenian company making elastics and zippers to specialise in the manufacture and sale of high-end campervans. Initially focusing on Germany – Europe’s largest leisure vehicle market – it soon moved into Austria, and then gradually expanded its presence across Europe, finally entering the UK in 2024.

All its campervans are designed and manufactured in Slovenia and it remains a family-owned company, proudly Slovenian, with a team of 90 employees at its production site in Slovenska Bistrica.

“We are proud to say that all our models are built in Slovenia,” says Adrien.

Over the past decade Mega Mobil has sold over 1,700 campervans and is now present in over 14 European countries.
