Relax marks new generation of Malibu campervans
Malibu says Relax – new campervan incoming
Malibu is Carthago’s sister brand, offering a choice of campervans and coachbuilts.
The biggest news for Malibu this year is a new campervan range called Relax. It has been designed to be more of an entry-level product and offers a much more modern interior to appeal to a different customer base.
There will be one model on the 6.36m long Fiat Ducato, but you will be able to order this in three trim levels: Active, Ambition and Exclusive. It’s a 140hp engine as standard with options to upgrade to the 180hp version and/or the automatic gearbox.
Relax: It's a much more open feel
What’s different about this model is that the kitchen has been pushed backwards, so as to not cover the side sliding doorway. This makes the lounge feel more spacious, a feeling that is further enhanced by the lined roof from cab backwards and the lack of a shelf in the cab, with high-level lockers running all the way into the cab. The table extends and floor storage can be accessed without needing to move the table.
Lighting throughout is ample – the team at Malibu quoted a total of 18 spotlights and continuous LED ambient lighting strips. Handleless lockers are featured.
The kitchen has a 70-litre fridge mounted at the end of the unit facing the cab and it opens from both sides.
Relax: It's time to sleep
There are twin single beds at the back, both over 2m long. While a window on one side is standard, a second can be ordered. It’s also worth noting that microfibre wall lining goes behind all lockers to minimise on-road noise and the Combi 4 boiler has been positioned under the seats to enhance the storage in the bed area, which includes a low-level wardrobe.
What else is new for Malibu 2026?
The Active model is the entry-level, with Ambition in the middle and Exclusive at the top. At least two of these models will be on display at the NEC show in October.
In other campervan news, there is a new interior option with light woods and grey fabrics (lucca) also featuring handleless locker doors for the high-level units. Black fittings and light switches are also new. The fridge model has changed and upholstery options are different.
All campervans also get a new rear lining on the rear doors, which is a 3D fabric, not plastic, for a cosier feel.
Malibu also has a selection of changes for its motorhome line-up in the 2026 season...
