The research found that 83% of people would consider a campervan trip to help process an important life event, with retirement (54%) and burnout (50%) the most commonly cited reasons.
Road trips received an average wellbeing rating of 88.6% for improving mood and general outlook, while 79% of respondents said they felt refreshed for longer after a campervan trip than after a hotel or resort holiday.
The shift is believed to be closely linked to the growing desire for more affordable and flexible ways to travel. In 2026, campervan holidays are allowing people to explore more of both the UK and Europe.
Another interesting finding was that 39% of respondents said they would actively seek destinations with no phone signal or Wi-Fi, with most saying that a single day disconnected is enough to leave them feeling revitalised.
The survey was conducted by Goboony, a campervan and motorhome sharing platform. Founded in New Zealand in 2011, the company has since expanded internationally and now connects travellers with more than 25,000 vehicles, having helped 1.7 million people explore the UK and Europe.
