Wellness on the Road – with bFRANK at the South West Motorhome & Campervan Show

Wellness on the road

When you think of a motorhome show, your mind might jump straight to gleaming new ’vans, a field full of pre-loved bargains, or that gadget you’ve been meaning to add to your camping kit. But this September’s South West Motorhome & Campervan Show, held at the Bath & West Showground (5–7 September 2025), is adding something entirely new to the mix – something that could help you enjoy life on the road for longer, feel stronger and more energised, and even safeguard your brain health well into the future.

That’s because Tom and Amy from bFRANK – the health and lifestyle coaching platform created by the much-loved vanlife YouTubers Van Monkeys – are bringing their unique brand of wellness on the road to this year’s event. They’ll be running free morning group fitness sessions throughout the weekend, specially tailored for the 50+ community and complete beginners, as well as delivering an inspiring Saturday talk in the Advice Centre on how simple, everyday lifestyle changes can dramatically reduce your risk of dementia.

It’s an unusual addition to a motorhome show – and exactly why you shouldn’t miss it

From Van Monkeys to bFRANK

If you’ve ever scrolled Instagram for vanlife inspiration, chances are you’ve come across Tom and Amy. Under the name Van Monkeys, they built a loyal following by sharing their creative van builds and practical tips for life on the road. But behind the engaging posts was something more personal. Both had seen first-hand how devastating dementia can be, and how often it strikes without warning.

The statistics are sobering: only 1 in 100 cases of Alzheimer’s and dementia are caused by genetics. That means up to 99% of cases could be influenced by lifestyle – diet, exercise, social connection, and how we challenge our brains. Once the disease has set in, it cannot be reversed. Prevention, therefore, becomes critical.

That realisation was the catalyst for bFRANK – a health and lifestyle coaching platform designed to make healthy living simple, practical, and achievable. And this September, they’re taking their mission on tour to inspire motorhomers, campervanners, and caravanners to keep their bodies and minds in top gear.

Wellness for the Road

At the South West Motorhome & Campervan Show, Tom and Amy’s philosophy is simple: it’s not about overhauling your life overnight, it’s about making small, sustainable changes that make a real difference.

Across the weekend, they’ll be delivering three different free workouts at 9:30am each morning (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Sessions will meet at the Advice Centre before heading to the workout area, and all you need is comfortable clothing, a bottle of water, and a willingness to give it a go. No equipment. No complicated moves. No previous experience required.

Each workout has a different focus, so whether you join all three or pick the one that appeals most, you’ll come away with fresh ideas and – hopefully – a smile on your face.

Free wellness sessions each morning of the show...

Friday – Heart Health: “Feel the Beat”

Kick off the weekend with a gentle cardio workout designed to get your blood pumping and your energy flowing. This upbeat, bodyweight-only session is about finding joy in movement, boosting cardiovascular fitness, and showing you how easy it can be to integrate heart-healthy habits into your travels. You choose your own pace – whether you want to keep things light or push yourself a little harder – and you’ll finish feeling energised for a day exploring the show.

Saturday – Cognitive Function: “Brain Gains”

This one’s all about connecting body and mind. Using a mix of quick and slow movements, coordination drills, and balance challenges, Tom and Amy will help you fire up your brain cells while giving your muscles a wake-up call. The aim? To encourage new neural connections, improve focus, and enhance reaction times – all while having a laugh. It’s the perfect morning boost before heading back to browse the latest motorhomes or watch the afternoon’s live music.

Sunday – Strength: “Power Up”

To round off the weekend, Sunday’s class focuses on building functional strength from head to toe. Using simple, effective bodyweight movements, this session will help improve mobility, boost confidence, and make everyday activities easier – from lifting a gas bottle to hauling an awning. Whether you’re brand new to exercise or more experienced, you’ll learn ways to adapt each move to suit your current fitness level.

No need to book the sessions, just head to meet Tom & Amy at 09:30 outside the Advice Centre.

Saturday 12:30 | Advice Centre

The Advice Centre Talk – Dementia Prevention

On Saturday, Tom and Amy will take to the Advice Centre stage for a talk that could change the way you think about ageing.

Far from a dry lecture, their session is rooted in real-life experience, personal motivation, and the latest scientific research. They’ll explore:
Why mainstream advice on dementia risk may be letting us down.
How certain foods can fuel your brain (and which ones to limit).
The role of movement – and why it’s about more than just exercise.
How socialising, hobbies, and mental challenges can help create new brain connections.
The practical steps you can take now to enjoy your adventures for many years to come.

As they put it: “What if you didn’t have to worry about adventuring before dementia kicks in? What if you could carry on with full cognitive function well into your senior years? It’s not just down to luck – you have more control than you think.”

The talk is free to attend for all show visitors and is just one of many sessions across the weekend where expert guests share their knowledge as part of the Advice Centre programme.

Why Wellness Belongs at a Motorhome Show

For some, the connection between a motorhome show and a workout might seem like a stretch. But if you’ve spent any time touring, you’ll know that life on the road can be both physically demanding and surprisingly sedentary. Long driving days, limited space, and the lure of a comfy camp chair can all chip away at our activity levels – especially when the weather turns.

Add in the fact that the motorhome community is, on average, older than the general population, and the importance of looking after our long-term health becomes even clearer. The beauty of Tom and Amy’s approach is that it’s designed for the realities of touring life. You don’t need a gym. You don’t need lots of time. You just need a little know-how and the confidence to get started.

More Than Just ’Vans
