Knaus is recognised for its interiors as much as its exteriors. This ‘van’s outside looks pretty standard,  but the body includes a double floor, which keeps the water tanks insulated and provides stowage that’s internally and externally accessible.

The chassis is Fiat’s lower-and-wider Camper frame. On-road performance proved very good.

In the cab itself, the old laptop locker has been replaced by a useful pair of cup holders and a niche for your phone with auxiliary and USB sockets. The fitted reversing camera is a great addition on a ’van with a blind rear panel.

Good natural light inside comes from a cab sunroof, while electric light is present in spades. The only omission is the lack of a ceiling light near the kitchen.

Heating and hot water is provided by Truma’s 6kW Combi. Plenty of warm air outlets keep you snug.

Single bed layouts tend to rob space, so here we have a compact Euro lounge, which nonetheless includes an L-shaped sofa. There’s room for up to six to sit. This lounge provides an easy to assemble but narrow third berth.

The kitchen includes a deep, stainless-steel sink and a three-in-line hob that allows a bit of worktop in front. There’s also a big shelf that hinges down once the rear head restraints have been unplugged.

Kitchen stowage is well provided for, thanks to superb drawers and a big cupboard with pull-out wire baskets.

A washroom and separate shower provide an en suite to the bedroom. The washroom’s contents include a big stainless-steel bowl, shelves, four mirrors, and big cupboards.

The spacious shower is fitted with a superior duckboard and two drain holes, but there’s only a small vent, and the downlighter proved dim.

The rear arrangement gives you a large garage with two access doors that are both over a metre high. The garage space is unencumbered by kit, and there’s access to some underfloor space too.

All this means the beds above are 1.05m off the floor, but they’re both well-sized and comfy.

At the foot of each there’s a wardrobe big enough to hide in with tops that rise on struts for easy access.

Other storage in the bedroom is good, although the overhead lockers loom low, so there’s insufficient space to sit up in bed.

The beds also make into an alternative transverse double.

The Knaus stands out with high quality and modern design in a great motorhome. This model does most things very well, but bear in mind that it sacrifices headroom above the single beds.
