The Itineo Cozi PC640 Spirit Edition

Itineo is known for A-classes rather than its low-profiles, but what both types have in common with this French brand is keen pricing. But, while the A-classes (now called Famili) come out of the same factory as the parent marque’s models, the Cozi range is assembled in Italy, alongside Giottiline motorhomes.

Like Itineo’s compact A-classes, the trio of low-profiles has all moved from Fiat to Peugeot for their chassis, so it’s a 140bhp engine and six-speed manual gearbox here.

Also new is a dark grey, plank-effect flooring and a furniture style borrowed from the 6.6-metre Famili motorhomes.

What’s included

More importantly, the PC640 (the middle model of three size-wise) is one of the 2023-season motorhomes that’s been selected to receive a Spirit Edition upgrade. That means the standard spec includes 16in alloy wheels, special TEP upholstery, a reversing camera, habitation door with bin and window, and a Macrom multimedia system with 6.8in screen, DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Heating in the PC640 comes from a diesel Truma Combi system and the Spirit Edition spec includes the Life Pack and Elite Pack, which cost extra on other Cozi models.

The layout

This model also boasts one of the most popular floorplans of the moment, especially amongst couples. So, within a compact 6.36m overall length, this Itineo has a large front lounge with side-facing settees (and an electric drop-down bed above that’s 1.92m by 1.49m), a central kitchen and a full-width rear washroom complete with a super-sized wardrobe sitting above a garage.

It’s worth noting, too, that most competitors with this layout are not only considerably more expensive but also longer.

You wouldn’t think that this motorhome is only the same length as many Fiat/Peugeot campervans, though, with the extra width (2.32m overall) and open-plan layout creating the impression of a much larger motorhome.

There are further pluses in the details, such as the opening overcab sunroof and the reading lights above the swivelling cab seats. It’s a big lounge, too, with a nearside sofa that measures 1.58m and a large dining table which unfolds to a generous 1.00m by 875mm.

You can also convert the settees into a pair of belted forward-facing travel seats by deploying hinged backrests hidden below. But it’s not all good news as there’s a step between the cab and the living area and the sofas are too high for comfort.

The kitchen

Further aft, the galley is petite but setting the two-burner hob well back in the counter has allowed a reasonable area of preparation space. The mix of gloss cream doors and pale wood works well, too, and the two soft-closing drawers have a high-quality feel.

Then, opposite, you’ll find a 141-litre Thetford fridge with separate bottle drawer for the Chablis and champers.

The washroom

It’ll be the washroom that puts the PC640 on your shopping list, though. You step up into this zone but the separate shower here still has 2.06m headroom, as well as a seat, shampoo shelf and clothes drying rail. Over on the offside you’ll  find storage for your toiletries, a swivel cassette loo and an opening window, plus a fixed corner basin and a smidgen of worktop.

This is a proper changing room, too, with the wardrobe boasting a hanging rail that’s 1.39m long (the drop from the rail is 930mm). As well as shelves, this vast clothing department also includes a couple of drawers. And then, below, there’s a sliding internal door to the garage.

The exterior

Externally, the offside loading door is bigger than the nearside one and, while this garage is a modest 585mm wide, it has a bike-swallowing height of 1.17m. Or you could add a rack on the rear as mountings for a cycle carrier are fitted.

Where to buy

Itineo has representatives in both Scotland (Dicksons of Perth) and Northern Ireland (Thompson Leisure in County Down).

The French brand also has three dealers in England: long-established Rapido Group retailer, Wokingham Motorhomes in the south; Brownhills’ mega site in the Midlands; and, the newest addition to the network, Oakwell Motorhomes in Barnsley.
