We all like something for nothing, even if spending almost £100k on a luxury leisure vehicle. That’s the promise with the WhiteLine. This 600 model comes with £24,390-worth of options when compared with a standard B-Class ModernComfort but offers a £6,950 saving against list price of such a fully loaded vehicle. So, here’s a Hymer with a huge spec, but only for a limited production run.
You’ll spot the WhiteLine by its Carrara white exterior, special graphics and 16in black alloy wheels. As a B-MC model, it sits on a front-wheel drive Merc cab with Hymer’s lightweight SLC chassis and benefits from the German maker’s 100% wood-free construction, a GRP floor and PUAL bodyshell.
WhiteLines come as standard with the 177bhp engine (exclusive to the motorhome market) and the latest 9G nine-speed automatic transmission. It also benefits from the 10.25in MBUX display, keyless starting, automatic headlights, Distronic adaptive cruise control, Crosswind Assist, reversing camera, semi-automatic air-con and a reinforced front axle.
A 3,500kg gross weight is listed as standard but this version has a very limited payload – upgrade to 4.5 tonnes and you’ve got a well over a tonne.
Then you can start to take advantage of double-floor storage (up to 360mm deep) and the generous 180-litre fresh water tank, which is ideal for independence from sites. Equally well-suited to long-term tours is the spacious rear garage with two full-sized loading doors, 1.32m internal height and huge 350kg maximum capacity.
Inside, there’s a classic L-settee lounge with Dalana half-leather upholstery, swivel captain’s chairs and single side-facing seat. A flat floor from the cab through to the rear bedroom adds convenience but the most noticeable feature is the 32in LED TV which locks into its stored position on its side. Release it via a cupboard-style catch and rotate the screen, then tune in via the Oyster Cytrac Vision satellite system – another standard feature.
There are two drawers – absolutely huge ones – below the kitchen sink, while the galley also comes with a UK-style cooker with separate grill and oven. The 142-litre Thetford fridge is alongside, while three 230V sockets and two USBs sit at the back of the galley.
The washroom is an all-in-one unit that includes a good-sized separate shower and two very large mirrors – WhiteLine owners have no excuse for not looking their best! Washroom details include neat recesses for gels, etc, in the shower, while the door clicks shut, emphasising the impressive build quality here.
The 600 layout’s key aspect is the rear bedroom with single beds – 1.90m long on the nearside and 1.83m on the offside, where a hanging rail is mounted over the foot of the bed (there’s an enclosed wardrobe too, under the offside single bed). You can also sleep in a vast 2.07m by 1.70m (almost super king size) bed by deploying an infill between the twin beds, in which case access is by a very clever system of pull-out steps.
