The Eura Mobil Profila is claimed to be the only ‘crossover’ motorhome (or low-profile with drop-down bed) that also features a full-length double floor for superior winterisation and extra storage. That this 675 SB model also combines a French bed layout with that aforementioned lowerable lounge bed makes it an even more unusual offering.

These days, while British makers still stick faithfully to the French bed floorplan, it is a dying breed on the continent. If you want a permanent double bed, the island bed is king, but, of course, that format takes up more space and results in a typical overall length of around 7.5m. Here, the French bed Profila has a clear advantage, at 6.99m.

Of course, this type of bed design can’t match the easy access of an island but the seven-zone cold foam mattress here isn’t high and doesn’t suffer the very chopped off corner of many French beds. It’s a good size – Eura Mobil claims 1.95m by 1.37m – and, better still, there’s no window behind the head of the bed, so you can sit up comfortably.

Alongside, a French bed normally has a washroom sharing the width of the motorhome. That’s the case here, too, but you may be surprised to find no separate shower within. Instead, the bench cassette loo has been pushed right to the back wall, freeing up a lot more floor space. There’s a duckboard over the shower tray and folding screens do a much better job than a curtain when it comes to showering. An oval basin in the forward corner of the bathroom completes the little room, which is accessed by a space-saving tambour door.

The Flow-Line kitchen has the hob set well back in the attractively curved worktop (with under-counter lighting) to allow space for meal preparation, while opposite is a 175-litre fridge/freezer. Equally capacious is the fresh water tank and not only is it 140 litres but in a heated, insulated location, too.

Up front, the lounge has a conventional L-settee and side seat, plus swivel cab seats. Both the inward-facing section of the ‘L’ and the long side sofa are more generously sized than you might expect, so this is a good lounge. With its duo-tone upholstery, high-gloss top lockers, dimmable lighting and large overcab sunroof, it looks stylish, too.

Above the lounge, the drop-down bed is neatly concealed during the day but, at night, a transverse bed measuring 1.93m by 1.40m (manufacturer’s figures) is revealed.

On the outside, the Profila benefits from GRP bodywork with wood-free walls, hail-resistant roof and modern bonding methods, all backed up by a 10-year water ingress warranty. There’s a large external storage locker on the offside, with a slim section extending underneath the washroom floor.
