Full Review

Dethleffs has unveiled a whole new range of low-profile and A-class motorhomes, called Pulse. Designed to fit in the line-up between the entry-level Trend and the upmarket Esprit, Pulse takes the place of Advantage.

The completely new Pulse range consists of a selection of six A-class (I) and four low-profile (T) models, which all feature front lounge layouts – some in the classic Euro style with an L-settee, others with the currently en vogue side settees. At the rear, there’s a choice of a height-adjustable island doubles or twin single beds (available in two heights).

All the A-class versions also feature a drop-down bed over the cab as standard, while a drop-down bed is optional (at extra cost) over the lounge of the low-profile models (retaining interior headroom of 1.90m with the bed stowed).

Internal design is contemporary, and a reduction in the use of wood décor, combined with neutral shades of grey and beige, gives a light and airy feel. The use of light is also an integral part of the design, and a backlit ceiling plinth and LED strips create ambient lighting. The vehicles all have a stepless interior, with a constant floor height front to rear. New Maxi-Flex upper locker doors are an innovation as the doors fold as they open.

Pulse models come in lengths from 6.99m up to 7.41m and all are built on a 3.5-tonne Fiat Ducato with 130bhp engine. The GT Pack upgrade (seen here) adds things like sporty graphics, alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and a dashboard with chrome fittings, plus cruise control. It is likely to be a popular option with UK buyers.

As well as the T 7051 EB single-beds-over-garage layout seen here, the low-profile Pulse range includes a 6.99m twin bed layout and island beds in both 6.99m and 7.41m body lengths. In addition to these four floorplans, the A-class Pulse can be chosen with side-facing settees in the I 7051 DBL (island bed) and I 7051 EBL (twin beds).
