The latest chassis employed by new 2020-season motorhomes may come with enhanced spec, as well as the newest layouts and designs, but there’s a price to pay – literally – in terms of not only vehicle cost (list price) but also the new CO2-linked taxation. What, then, if you could get a brand-new 2020-model-year motorhome built on a run-out Euro 6b base vehicle?

That’s exactly what Bailey is offering with its Alliance Silver Edition – or ‘SE’ for short (harking back to the Bristol company’s very first motorhome, the Autograph SE). These are based on the last right-hand drive Peugeot Boxer cabs available with the ‘old’ engines (predating Euro 6d). Not that you’d know the difference, nor probably care too much, as the Silver Edition gets a silver cab (surprise, surprise) and alloy wheels. No, you’ll be far too busy enjoying the cash you’ve saved (and continue to save in reduced road tax), though Bailey only has a limited supply of these outgoing Peugeot cabs – when they’re gone, they’re gone…

Assuming you don’t dilly-dally too much, what you’re getting here is any one of the seven Alliance layouts (from two to six berths), built on a lightweight Al-Ko chassis with a maximum gross weight of 3,500kg. Go for one of the floorplans with face-forward rear travel seats with seatbelts (like this single bed layout 76-4T) and you’re benefiting from Bailey’s extensive crash-testing programme, too.

And, as standard, the Peugeot Boxer base comes with ESP, driver and passenger airbags and the 2-litre 160bhp motor. All Alliance SEs enjoy Bailey’s Alu-Tech construction, Grade III insulation and Truma Combi 4E gas/electric blown-air heating. There are additional features, too, such as a Fiamma F45S roll-out awning, a 100W solar panel, Status TV aerial, reversing camera, exterior 230V and barbecue points and a spare wheel.
