Full Review

Rooted in the seven-and-a-half-metre class, this low-profile from eastern Europe offer lots of bang for your buck. But there’s more, as the layout provides an island bed, separate shower, Brit-friendly kitchen and lots of desirable kit, fitted as standard.

Sport explained

Sport is Adria’s entry-level range, but you’d be hardpressed to know it – the 690 presents a visage of seemingly mid-range confidence that’s nicely married to Fiat’s Camper chassis-equipped Ducato. Here, there’s a wide-track rear axle and 130-horsepower motor.

Locking is remote central, mirrors are electrically adjusted. Add the penny-under-two-grand SE Lux Pack and you get the air-con, passenger airbag and cruise control that brings the cab appointments up to scratch.

On-road performance, comfort and handling is set to be excellent, as the genuine low-profile body sits nice and squat – a fact demonstrated by the lack of any need of
an external step for the habitation door.

Payload is good too – well over half a tonne should be plenty for the touring couple that this ’van is aimed at. Step aboard and you’re confronted by an interior that presents Adria’s take on the latest in motorhome modernity.

Layout

The layout is conventional for the type: lounge sits ahead of L-shaped kitchen, with separate shower and wash/toilet room serving the bedroom in the rear. The ‘Euro lounge’ uses swivelled cab seats, includes a small side seat and two rear travel seats.

Mealtimes see a slide-out-and-pop-up table extension make sure that there’s plenty of room for four to eat – oceans of space for the three people that can live aboard. And the third person sleeps in a single bed made from the lounge – likely a youngster who takes the occasional trip.

Kitchen

Kitchen features combine wow-factor and practicality, with an eye-catching – oblong – deep designer sink doing the wowing. There’s plenty of space for crocks in here but there’s no drainer and the tap is a bit of a 'cheapy'.

Bed

The Adria Sport S 690 SC's double bed will sell this motorhome.

It’s long (6ft 7in) and wider than a domestic double (4ft 9in), and the heads can rise – independently of each other – for comfy reading and slurping of your favourite abed beverage. The foot of the bed houses a large storage locker, while on the offside there’s a neat vanity unit, with mirrored cabinet, counter, drawer and shelf.

Washroom

Opposite stands the separate shower – rigid doors, duckboard, rooflight, and drying rail are all included.

There is a problem here with headroom, though.

I’m only 5ft 9in tall, but my head made contact not just with the drying rail, but also the frame of the rooflight, which is higher. A nice long bed, but a limited-headroom shower – hmmm...

Thankfully, it’s difficult to criticise the remainder of the ablutions: sensible basin, counter-top, storage above and below, C250 loo and three mirrors tick all the boxes for a practical toilet/washroom that should work very well.
