Full Review

What made this Adria a winner in our 2015 Motorhome Awards? Sheer quality, with high levels of equipment, a lovely interior and great design.

Then there’s the base vehicle too. The Renault Master cab boasts the latest generation ESP stability system and a built-in Tom Tom sat-nav, while a passenger airbag, cruise control and cab air-con come as extras.

The driving experience is good, with plenty of power, a car-like steering wheel, good mirrors and a real feeling of high-quality engineering.

The cab seats swivel to form a very good Euro lounge with the half-dinette. There’s room for seven to park in here and the table is superb.

Above, an electric drop-down bed provides double sleeping with plenty of space and comfort. The lounge makes up into a double bed too, so technically there are six berths. But the fifth travel seat hidden beneath the lounge side seat is only fitted with a lap-strap, so this motorhome is best used by four.

You get an L-shaped kitchen – typical with this layout – but, unlike in rival models, it’s not compromised by lack of space. A three-in-line hob allows working surface in front and at the left-hand side, and there’s a divided cover for the sink. There are plenty of drawers, plus a couple of lockers up top. There’s a low-level oven/grill, too, and a 160-litre Dometic AES fridge/freezer.

The Matrix’s beds are both over six-foot-seven long.? They are comfy, and are surrounded by nice touches of convenience, such as shelves at the foot and head, super touch-sensitive downlighters, and curved, padded headboards. The shelves here are great but a tad small.

A concertina screen closes off the bedroom from the rest of the interior.

An end washroom like the spacious one here is an oft-found design, but there are great details here, such as a decent basin with countertop, storage above and below and even a display cabinet.

With a roomy wardrobe in here, the bathroom doubles as dressing room. The separate shower is a good size, and the presence of a radiator in here is a clue to the Adria’s upmarket Alde heating system. This is fully programmable, via an easy-to-use LCD-equipped panel, and can be powered by gas or electricity.

This is an abridged version of the full review appearing in the June 2015 issue of Which Motorhome.
