Vanmaster Ovation caravan
THE style and profile of the Vanmaster Ovation is distinctive and looks a real class act especially behind my tow vehicle, a Renault Espace Grande.
Quality exterior build is extremely high with all GRP panels being built by Vanmaster themselves. It would be easy to outsource this work but Vanmaster have such high standards that it would rather do the design and manufacture themselves to ensure the highest quality is maintained. Twin front locker hatches enable easy access to the gas and other items you may store.
Super pitch attachments are fitted to the Vanmaster as well as the latest Status TV aerial and the AKS hitch helps the towing qualities of the Ovation.
Smart alloys and heavy duty legs and a neat back panel with stainless steel grab handles further tell you this is a tourer with status. The Ovation has the end washroom layout which has proved popular since day one - we loved it back then and it still wins hands down today.
Step inside the Vanmaster and it’s a case of traditional design and a blend of modern ideas. The ambience is that of luxury, quality and detail.
The furniture for instance is built at Vanmaster’s factory. Again, it would be easy to source out at cheaper cost but the firm are keen to keep quality high and customers love this attention too. The front dinette is both roomy and comfortable, it has got excellent space and storage, and the chest of drawers in the middle has three units plus a smart pull-out coffee table.
Roof lockers are deep and the quality of the woodwork is simply superb, not a gap or a misaligned edge in sight.
A CD/radio is fitted and lighting is well taken care of, except we’re not sure about the main roof locker lights - they look lost.
Upholstery is an option but we liked the design in our test ‘van. Two single beds can of course be made up, but a double can be made using two pull-out sections from the seat lockers instead of the usual slatted bed base. The side dresser is simply massive and comes complete with Vanmaster glasses. Also the storage is fantastic; a couple will delight at the Ovation’s overall storage.
The Ovation’s kitchen is extremely user-friendly with acres of workspace and a large pull-out section. Fridge and freezer along with full oven are part of the ‘van’s spec as you would expect. Storage is ample and the dresser opposite has a pull-out work surface so adding to the already excellent worktop.
A mirror is placed by the entrance door as are a shelf and twin cupboards - adding some more to the Ovation’s already excellent storage facilities.
The end washroom is superb with its circular shower unit and cracking storage, comprising a wardrobe with good hanging space, cupboards and more drawers near the hand basin. As many Vanmaster owners tour for long periods, storage is a big issue.
