THE Silver has a modern profile with polyester moulded front and rear panel plus tough polyester sides. Add some get-with-it graphics and you have a smart-looking tourer but in usual continental fashion, the Silver comes minus a drawbar fairing.
Exterior mains locker and decent-sized front locker are all part of the Silver package.
However, the Silver doesn’t come with a glazed stable door but does boast alloys. The exterior is well finished, with not a screw or blob of mastic out of place.
With the roof down ready for the road, the Silver has an overall height of 1.95m - a definite plus for towing, especially if you’re into a head wind. It will easily fit in most garages. The Silver has the door on the UK side and comes with an awning light just to the left of it.
The 340TDE comes with an end kitchen, two front single settees (or large double bed) and side dresser with wardrobe opposite, while the washroom is in the offside corner. It’s only a compact unit but the floor area is spacious and once you pop up the roof you get decent enough headroom and some more light through the two large side windows.
Step inside and it’s apparent just how much thought the designers have given the Silver; the front dinette is very spacious with twin singles that make into a large double. Roof locke
rs abound and although not very deep, provide enough storage for two.
A large table is supplied and also makes the base for the double bed, night time though may prove a little disappointing, with only one spot lamp placed under the front roof locker.
The general seating though is durable and comfortable and to supplement the curtains, flyscreens and blinds are fitted all round. The wardrobe won’t disappoint those after decent storage too; again a couple will find it large enough but with an optional space heater fitted below some hanging space would be forfeited.
Opposite more storage comes in the form of a cupboard with some additional worktop and a roof locker too.
The end kitchen comes with four burners and a sink but no drainer. Worktop surface is limited, and the Silver doesn’t have an oven, but owners could use the side dresser to put a microwave on.
The Silver comes with three mains sockets: one at the front dinette and one near the wardrobe plus one in the kitchen area. The kitchen has two spot lamps and is well lit for night use.
The corner washroom comes with a surprising amount of room and a swivel cassette loo. The vanity unit has twin mirrors and also storage beneath. A large opaque window lets light flood in even on a dull day.
Verdict:
The Silver isn’t cheap to buy, but what you do get is an agile tourer, well built and finished. It’s a ‘van that will prove a great asset to those who don’t want to drag a large tourer around.
The interior woodwork is sturdy and well designed and operating the pop-top is easy enough too, whether you’re putting it up or taking it back down again. The Silver is a niche tourer but Casey’s are already finding the ‘vans are getting a good reception from folding campers/touring caravan owners alike.
We like the fact that it’s so easy to tow and handle on site and we reckon it would suit older caravanners who may have looked at getting a motorhome or giving up the hobby.
The Silver 340TDE has a lot more going for it than meets the eye. Trigano know that the Silver range won’t sell in by the thousand, but it will definitely sell and provide its owners with many pleasurable hours of touring caravanning - with many not even having to change their car.
