The end shower room Buccaneer Corsair has a list of equipment that takes it right to the pinnacle of touring caravan excellence, with some surprises along the way.
In a caravan at this price level, you’d expect Alde central heating and a heated towel rail to go with it. You’d expect a 40-litre inboard water tank, too. An Omnivent extractor fan is here, together with alarm system. You also get the BPW chassis version of the more familiar AL-KO ATC stability control. This safety measure is especially valuable on a heavy single-axle caravan which can be more susceptible to wind-induced sway and influence of overtaking by lorries than lighter, or twin-axle models.
You get a Whale Aquasource waterline system to enable you to connect directly to a pitch’s tap. The toilet has a ceramic bowl. And security comes in the form of the Suretrack vehicle tracker with a 12-month subscription, plus an intruder detection and tilt-sensor alarm system.
The surprises come at roof level. The front roof light has a rain sensor; it closes itself when it detects a few raindrops. It has a remote control for its tilting action. And a little further down the caravan is another feature exclusive to Buccaneer – a satellite dish, which lies down against the roof for travel and rises at the touch of the button to seek out a multiplicity of stations.
The Corsair lacks kitchen storage space, like so many others of this layout in a body that’s only 5.59 metres long. Between fridge and oven is a cabinet containing three wire basket shelves that slide out. Other than the fridge, that’s your total of food storage opportunity.
