A six-berth with a light and airy interior, family layout with fixed bunks, end washroom and special graphics

The Bailey Phoenix GT75 762

The Phoenix GT75 range has been launched to celebrate Bailey’s seventy-fifth anniversary this year. Among the range there are six models, each with a very different layout and ranging from £22,999 to £27,499.

The smallest and lightest is the two-berth 420, which has an MTPLM of 1,142kg. The range also has four four-berth models: the 440 which has an end washroom layout; the 640 which has an end bedroom with island bed; the 642 which has two fixed single beds and an end washroom, and the 644 which also has an end washroom and front lounge but with a transverse island bed. All of these are single-axle models. 

Then finally, the largest of the range, the 762 model, which is a twin-axle, six-berth with a family layout featuring fixed bunk beds and a side dinette. They all have a spacious, yet lightweight design, allowing them to be accessible to a wide range of tow vehicles.

The interior

The first thing to notice when you step into the 762 is the light and airy interior, which is helped by a large vertical opening window, and the two smaller windows alongside it, positioned at the front.

Not only does it create a lovely bright space, it creates the perfect spot for enjoying the view of wherever you are staying, getting some fresh air, and it is easy to access to open and close.

The lounge

The front lounge has parallel sofas with the Amersham Aquaclean soft furnishings, which is a great optional extra, especially when travelling with kids or pets, just in case of any spillages. It has a modern design and nice finishing touches, with matching curtains and scatter cushions, as well as blackout blinds for cosier evenings and night time. It also has loose carpet, keeping it functional and easier to clean. 

There is a cabinet positioned at the front of the model between the two settees which works really well as a side unit, or to hold drinks, and it also has a pull-out table which is quick and easy to use for the occasional meal, with space for two people to dine. The cabinet also provides storage with two roomy drawers and a low-level storage cupboard.

For family meals, there is also a larger table that can be brought out from its own dedicated storage cupboard, providing all the space needed for the whole family to sit around, eat and relax.

The Light Oak and Cashmere furniture finishes give it a real sleek and luxury feel, as do the overhead lockers, which have a new Italian design with curved locker doors, in addition to providing plenty of storage space. 

The berths

At bedtime, the settees can be turned into one large double bed or two singles, each with a length of 6ft. All the windows have fitted blinds and the cabinet becomes a handy bedside table. The two directional spotlights with USB ports come into their own here, for reading and charging phones throughout the night. 

The other berths are created by the bunk beds which have to be one of the highlights in this caravan. The fixed set is perfect for a family with children, with each bunk having its own reading light, window and USB port, as well as individual curtains that can pull across the whole length of the bed, allowing everyone to have their own private personal space that doesn’t need to be put away in the day.

Opposite the fixed bunks is the side dinette which makes the second set of bunks and final two berths, by folding out the top part and using the tabletop and cushions to fill the bottom bunk.

This set has one long privacy curtain which pulls all the way around, and also a reading light and window; however, there’s no USB port and the light and curtain must be shared. There was still plenty of space throughout the caravan with both bunks set up and the area even has extra shelves between overhead lockers for toys and other homely touches.

The kitchen

The kitchen sits in the centre of the caravan and is fully equipped, providing everything you need, including a 700W microwave, Thetford combined oven, grill and hob with four gas burners and Dometic 98-litre fridge with 12-litre freezer. 

Being a six-berth, plenty of space is needed for preparing meals and this kitchen didn’t disappoint, with plenty of worktop space in addition to a hob cover, sink cover, a drop-down worktop extension which pulls out above one of the sofas, and also extra counter space above the fridge on the opposite site. 

It has plenty of storage with push-button latches, making it safe while travelling, and a designated cutlery tray.

It carries on the luxury feel with grey marble laminate and Cashmere locker doors, and the whole kitchen layout and design is thoughtful, with the low-down position of the oven and having two plug sockets for appliances. 

The media station

Another highlight to this model is the media station which is positioned between the side dinette and front lounge. It holds a wireless charging spot, USB ports and a TV point which is positioned perfectly for watching from the sofas or even can be turned around to be viewed from the bunks. 

It also has a portable Sonos speaker which comes as standard and has its own dedicated space to sit on the unit.

The washroom

The washroom sits at the back and holds even more storage space with a fantastic large wardrobe. Although this would definitely be needed, especially when travelling with six, it doesn’t make the washroom feel small at all and fits in perfectly with the design. 

It has the usual cupboards and also some handy shelves and plenty of space for getting dry after a shower. The shower itself is a good size cubicle with bifold door, lighting and a rooflight. As well as the Thetford cassette toilet and Belfast-style sink and mixer tap, it has a full width mirror, towel hook and also two hooks on the back of the door.

What’s included

The 762 is pre-wired for WiFi, which is very important these days! It has a Truma Combi heating system, which, again, is very important for those chilly times, and the all-new BCA Vegas centrally located electrical control panel. 

It is pre-wired for a motor mover and has a new two-part exterior door with high-security lock, coat hook, waste bin and built-in dustpan and brush.

<p>Overall, this Phoenix GT75 762 is a great caravan for touring with a larger family. It is light and spacious and has everything you need while away from home, as well as plenty of optional extras to upgrade your model to your personal requirements. The large windows at the front are a great touch and all the storage areas have created a functional, yet sophisticated caravan.</p>
