TIPPING the scales at just below a ton, the 2005 Argente is one of the lighter caravans here.
In theory that means you can take away plenty of kit with you, but if you were to load it up to the maximum level allowed, you’d be in danger of overloading your Mondeo.
Still, you shouldn’t have to take too much away with you to maintain all those comforts of home, because the Avondale isn’t sparsely equipped. If we start with the best news, it has to be the kitchen. It’s an L-shaped affair that offers astonishing levels of worktop space – you really are spoiled for room. It’s also well equipped, although the lack of ventilation means things could get hot and steamy very quickly. Still, that may be just what you like…
Perhaps there’s too much space in the kitchen, because when you use the washroom you’ll wish there was a bit more room in there. It’s not just the lack of space – the paucity of cubby holes to store things is unforgiveable – you just expect to have places to put toiletries.
Perhaps your best bet is to stay in the lounge area, and there’s certainly no reason to avoid this. The two sofas are comfortable and the décor used throughout is really good – although the colours make it look more like a bedroom than a sitting room. Putting all this to one side though is the build quality issue – our test caravan was well below par in this respect. So inspect carefully when yours is delivered.
