IT doesn’t take a genius to see that the Topaz inspired the design of Auto-Sleepers’ newest van conversion, the Kemerton.

There’s the same lounge of side settee and single forward-facing seat, a split kitchen and a full-width across-the-aft-end washroom. But transferring the layout from Volkswagen T5 to Peugeot Boxer has turned this into something of a Tardis.

Not only does it feel huge inside, it’s around £8500 cheaper than a Topaz too. This is the most exciting new Auto-Sleeper in quite a while and it seems to have been timed perfectly to catch those buyers looking to downsize and possibly run just one vehicle.

Even on the outside this prototype looks special, resplendent in Azzura Blue metallic and fitted with alloy wheels (which along with cab air-conditioning make up the £1250 Optional Pack 1).

There isn’t a Pack 2 because the Kemerton comes with pretty much everything you can think of as standard – even a gas tank and Al-Ko air suspension. And we reckon you’d be as crazy as a Monster Raving Loony voter to go without Pack 1.

Front foglights, roof rails, colour-coded front bumper and the now familiar flush-fitting, dark tinted, athermic side windows complete the look. A look that certainly doesn’t appear to be eight grand less than a T5!
