If you want a side kitchen layout on a VW T6 there is almost too much choice. Some designs stand out, though, and it’s true that the Three Bridge Infinity (August 2019 issue, online review here) caught the Editor’s eye because of its distinctive curving kitchen unit, with a worktop that flows smoothly down to the floor at one end and up to form the side of the wardrobe at the other.

The company – which specialises in the upper end of the VW market – accepts that, for some buyers, however, looks play second fiddle to storage capacity. For those customers, Three Bridge offers the Tourer model seen here with its more rectilinear cabinetwork.

The Tourer is available in short-wheelbase form, as well as the LWB shown here, which obviously gains extra lockers, thanks to its 400mm of additional length.

In fact, Three Bridge says the Tourer is designed to offer maximum storage but without losing the ability to recline the driver’s seat or fully swivel both cab chairs through 180 degrees.

Overhead lockers and rear shelf storage options increase cupboard capacity further, while cabinets come with aluminium corner profiles and ABS edge-banded doors. Corian worktops are standard, but this example featured a real wood counter.

Kitchen equipment features a Smev hob/sink combination as standard, with gas supplied from an underslung LPG tank and water from a 48-litre tank, also mounted underneath.

Here, the options list had been raided to provide gas-free camping. So, cooking is instead on a Steba induction hob and there’s a Toshiba microwave hidden in the cupboard alongside the 50-litre compressor fridge.

In order to avoid reliance on campsite hook-ups, the LPS lithium power supply option is fitted, too, with 200Ah leisure battery and 800W Victron inverter. Standard spec is a more modest 160Ah AGM leisure battery, plus one mains socket and twin USBs.

A fixed RIB rear seat is standard, but another alternative seen here is the Reimo Variotech 3000 sliding seat with three seatbelts. Likewise, it’s to the German campervan component specialist that Three Bridge turns for the rising roof. It’s Reimo’s Easy-Fit with Open Sky canvas (which fully unzips).

If it’s keeping warm, rather than letting the fresh air in, that concerns you, then a 750W mains-powered heater is the standard fitment, but this can be upgraded to a diesel-fired Webasto unit with or without hot water, too.

Whichever heater you opt for, multi-layer thermal insulation is installed, along with carpet lining and felt sound deadening. We were particularly impressed by the neat window surround panels and the integral pleated blinds.

Of course, you can carry on with more bespoke touches, such as leather or Alcantara upholstery (even with matching scatter cushions), while Bilstein lowered suspension, 20in wheels (from 1Form), Abt styling kits and VB air suspension are also offered.

A conversion to the spec of this show model would be around £34,000. Then, there’s the VW base vehicle, which here was a 204PS Highline with DSG gearbox and 4Motion, nudging a £50k list price.
