Full Review
On a Boxer base, this may be a two-berth, but it features a two-lounge layout, with the main seating located mid 'van. This innovative layout means you can make a transverse double bed from the on-site seating whilst the cab seats remain swivelled.
The tambour door gives easy access to the washroom located immediately behind the bedroom/lounge. It's well equipped with a bench cassette toilet and fold-down basin, and provides showering facilities.
The rest of the vehicle shows care too. The furniture is wood-veneer finished in beech or light oak, giving a traditional feel. The edgings are varnished hardwood and the upholstry is an exterior complimenting half-leather, half blue fabric number.
The kitchen is behind the drivers seat and has a sink/drainer and thetford cooker, as well as a low-level furniture unit inside the sliding door containing a sizeable 110l compressor fridge. Also worth noting is that the table neatly clips to the fridge unit wall for outdoor use with the sliding door open.
The bed isn't the biggest but it's easier to make up than it's rivals such as the Shire Phoenix ML.
The location of the flat-screen monitor allows the possibility of watching TV from either end of the van.
On the technical side the Ikon comes with twin leisure batteries, a Truma E2400 heating system and a 10l boiler. There's LED lighting throughout, but the strip for the kitchen is impeded by the open cooker lid.
The main criticism is the rather upright and hard lounge seating, but the innovation within aspects such as storage is to be applauded.
It's far from the cheapest Showdown vehicle, but there's a handcrafted theme to Horizons' highly-experienced work. If you like the mid-lounge/end-washroom concept, here's some quality for you.
