Full Review
Badged as Globecar, these 'vans are actually built by Germany's highly respected Dethleffs, so expectations are very high.
If the Globescout-Style exterior arouses your interest- lower skirting, alloy wheels, porthole windows and silver and black graphics - then the interior is if anything, more of a surprise. The transverse rear bed floorplan is nothing new, but it goes on to offer sleeping for up to three and safe travel for four.
The all-inclusive package of options adds £1,499 to the base price, but Globecar points out that priced individually, the extras would be worth some £2,640, so it really is still value for money. The upgrades within the pack include a 120l fuel tank, giving over 700 miles of touring between fill-ups, as well as the more usual air-conditioning, electric door mirrors etc.
Underfoot, the curved floor extends from the cab floor to the lounge, with a few storage hatches. The rear seat is though, a little small. Probably more suited to a child than a fully grown adult. The table in this area is also an optional variant.
The grey-granite finish matches that of the kitchen worktop and the overhead lockers are of a good size, with solid catches.
Opposite the lounge there's a nice twist to the kitchen, in that it's all angled ever so slightly to give the impression of more space. It's also got excellent storage thanks to a preference toward drawers rather than cupboards. It even has a small oven below the waist-height fridge to the right of the galley.
The washroom facilities are also of superb design, primarily because of the way the shower extends out across the width of the centre of the 'van with two tambour doors, still leaving space for a fixed basin with some depth to it.
At the rear, the transverse bed can be left permanently in position, or it's three matresses and metal-framed sections can be tucked away for travel.
Details haven't been forgotten. Adjustable shelving to the two slimline cupboards between shower room and bed; lined wheelarches; zipped mattress covers; security rails on the inside of the back windows.
It all adds up to a great vehicle.
