When the Adria Twin (originally called Van Win) arrived on the scene it was one of a kind. Now just about every major European motorhome maker (plus Swift and others in the UK and a number of specialist van conversion brands) has one in its portfolio. We’re talking, of course, about transverse rear double bed campervans, usually based on the six-metre Fiat Ducato panel van.

The thing about the Twin is that it wasn’t just a gamechanger, it has continued to be at the forefront of this sector, although the Plus spec here lacks the big overcab sunroof of the more expensive Supreme model.

You still get the full-height walk-through from the living area to the driving quarters, though, and, without an overcab shelf, the front of the campervan does feel a lot more spacious. The high-level lockers from the lounge also stretch into the cab as part of the ‘Cabin-loft’ design for a more integrated appearance.

Another advantage of the Adria over its mostly imported rivals is that the 600 SPB has its layout mirrored for the UK, with the sliding door on our nearside. And, in a further reflection of the importance of the British market to the Slovenian firm, 2020-spec Twins get an oven/grill unit as standard.

Even the washroom shows some clever design as there’s a swing-wall arrangement to create a shower cubicle that requires neither a clingy curtain nor an extension into the centre aisle. And, of course, the rear bed can still fold away so that you can get bikes (or other tall loads) inside the vehicle. Or folding cycles can just slide under the bed.

The Twin Plus comes with Fiat’s 140bhp engine as standard, but you’ll need to find an extra £1,820 for the Pack 1 of essential options, including cab air-conditioning, passenger airbag and cruise control.
