Swift - Toronto Lodge Urban

fd1855ac-28ac-4941-ba06-0c10de103b8a

A mix of industrial and modern styling characterises this new lodge from the Swift Group.

The kitchen

The Urban’s kitchen has matt ‘soft black’ doors with slim black handles and a black sink and tap, all contrasting dramatically with the white marble-effect work surface. Above the breakfast bar that divides the kitchen from the dining area hangs a rectangular black-framed, triple filament bulb light; very chic – and very industrial in style.

Kitchen equipment includes a five-burner hob, an oven/grill with a microwave above it, a dishwasher, and a wine cooler cabinet.

Lighting runs around the top of the kitchen units and also below the work surface, illuminating the black handles and giving them a steel-like shimmer; again very industrial-style.

An enormous dining area

The dining area is utterly fabulous – and enormous. The L-shaped seating is backed by eight large grey cushion-backrests, and is laden with scatter cushions in an assortment of tactile and light-reflective fabrics.

The  table’s oak top sits on a black metal X-shaped base; another industrial style feature. Together with the three upholstered chairs, the dining suite provides enough seating space for eight. And three filament bulbs suspended from black cables add an extra industrial ingredient.

The lounge

Two large sofas face the media wall. Below the television position, a ‘log burner’ is recessed into a Naturewall panel (composed of slim strips of natural wood on a black background). Open shelving, a three- shelf cabinet, plus cupboards below, provide ample storage.

To the rear of the lounge is the side entrance (there’s also a sliding patio door entrance at the front). You step straight into a coats, shoes and utility area. A washing machine is housed here, together with the central heating unit and two capacious cabinets. An upholstered seat is below four double coat hooks on a Naturewall panel. And there’s plenty of space for footwear under the seat.

The bedrooms

The main bedroom is charming and luxurious – and at the same time superbly modern, using black and grey as the predominant hues. More Naturewall panelling is integrated into the headboard design, together with industrial-style lamps, on chunky, burnished metal bases. Concealed lighting runs down each side of the black floor-to-ceiling television panel. And lighting is set within the rectangular mirror in the dressing area recess that provides two wardrobes, and lots of shelves on each side of the dressing table.

The black and grey theme continues in the twin rooms of this three-bedroom unit. Both rooms are identical in size, and are plenty large enough to be regarded as ideal for adults. Both have dressing tables and wardrobes.

The washrooms

The shower room is luxuriously large. Black, for the fittings, the Venetian blind and one of the two wide drawers under the washbasin; marble-effect for the walls of the large shower area, and grey wall covering elsewhere together create a stunning, industrial-chic look.

Styling in the bathroom, with an over-bath shower that has directional and rainfall roses, is similar, and equally impressive.
