Park Review: Perfect Plots at Pinehurst Park

Val Chapman takes a look at what’s on offer at a park with both coast and country appeal

Just five miles from the spectacular Dorset coast and surrounded by heathland, Pinehurst Park is a tranquil choice for a new lifestyle.

The John Romans group is so proud of its flagship Pinehurst Park in Dorset that they asked if we'd highlight this residential development again in this issue. That's because our ‘Region to inspire you to buy' focus is on Dorset this time – and, when we told boss John Romans we're featuring the beautiful county that is home to Pinehurst, he pleaded with us to talk about Pinehurst again.

Naturally beautiful

Abbotsbury Abbey, Dorset

It’s a beautiful park and has won a string of awards to prove it, notably for its manicured grounds. It's in a beautiful place; West Moors, in East Dorset, just outside Ferndown, 10 miles from Bournemouth and surrounded by heathland and woodland.

The park is quite close to the Holt Heath National Nature Reserve, which has miles of easy walking trails. It's a great place to see the iconic New Forest ponies, for heather and gorse and a variety of butterflies. Birdwatchers will enjoy looking out for curlews and Dartford warblers, in particular.

With the Dorset coast just five miles away, Pinehurst Park is one of those special places that gives you the best of both country and coast within easy distance.

Pinehurst is a prestige park development. But that doesn't mean it's highly expensive. It's very affordable to live here.

Smooth move

And the process of moving to your dream retirement home here is smoothed by John Romans’ own Property Exchange Scheme, which enables you to act quickly, circumventing the hassles of selling your house. The scheme works in partnership with A2B Assured Move Ltd, providers of a stress-free service at the same time as helping you to get the full market value of your home.

Here's how the service works: There are no legal fees and no estate agency fees. Once a price has been agreed for your home, and Property Exchange Scheme has received your commitment fee of £5000, the scheme starts the process with A2B. The plan makes you an offer for your home based on the local market and comparable evidence of similar sold properties. There is no chain to delay the process and, once agreed you can move into your new Pinehurst property immediately or at a time to suit you.

You can take advantage of the property Exchange Scheme about buying a home on any one of John Romans; 14 parks; this time, though, we thought we'd take a look at how affordability works at Pinehurst.

Here are some typical examples of your choice:

From the elegant Prestige Anthem, which we reviewed in our Spring issue, to more modest, used homes, there’s usually a good choice here.

The Prestige Anthem is a 46 ft x 20 ft home with two bedrooms. It's £295, and the company sites it on a corner plot overlooking fields. It has four bay windows and two high roof sections; this is a prestige home in every sense, with a fabulously ultra-modern kitchen and elegant styling everywhere.

There’s a Prestige Special, at £244,000, with a study, a utility room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite).

In the used sector, you can find homes for as little as £139,000; one example is a two-bedroomed Omar Ashdale, with a newly-installed kitchen, an entrance hall and two bedrooms. Higher up the price range is another example, a 2016 luxury home built by Homeseekers, 46ft x 20ft with a study and two bedrooms. The plot has two drives and parking for three cars.

John Romans' own Property Exchange Scheme eases the process of moving to your dream retirement home.
