Lyons Holiday Parks has nine parks in North Wales and one in Cumbria. In this issue we focus on two of them, the prestige Lyons Woodlands Hall at Llanfwog, Ruthin, and the relaxing, secluded Lyons Mounds Caravan Park at Tyn-Y-Morfa, Gronant

Lyons Woodlands Hall

Lyons Woodlands Hall is a country retreat, set amid a mass of spectacular Rhododendron colour and with beautiful views of the Vale of Clwyd. It’s a peaceful park in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walks, pubs and historic Welsh towns are the attractions here. The park has a lovely restaurant, in a conservatory with views of the park’s landscaped gardens and the Vale of Clywd’s rolling countryside and wooded hills. Menus range from fine dining to light snacks.

Lyons Woodlands Hall

Holiday home owners at Woodlands Hall can enjoy getting to grips with fitness – there’s a gym here, and also a sauna in which to relax after your gym sessions! And if you enjoy a game of snooker, you can do that here, too.

The park also has a tennis court, areas for ball games, adventure play and dog exercising, plus a library and a launderette.

Woodlands Hall has a rich history. The present building was constructed in 1870. However, there has been a building on the site for many hundreds of years and the deeds show there was once a traditional Welsh long cottage here. The current Tudor-style mansion was built for opera singer Jane Bremner.

Many of the carvings you now see in the hall were brought from abroad, by Miss Bremner who travelled widely, on ocean-going liners in the course of her career as a singer.

After she died the contents of the hall were auctioned. Included were many paintings by the old masters and furniture of the highest quality. The hall stood empty for many years. The estate was eventually the broken up and sold off in parcels. In the 1950s, part of the estate was purchased. The new owner set up a country club in the hall, plus a caravan park. Both the hall and the caravan park have had various owners down the years until it became part of the Lyons Holiday Parks group.

Lyons Mounds Holiday Home Park

Lyons Mounds is just 10 minutes’ walk from the extensive sandy beach of Talacre and a few minutes’ drive from the resort of Prestatyn, yet the park lies within beautiful woodland. It’s a serene park, a place in which to relax and unwind.

One of the plus-points of buying a holiday home at Mounds is low running costs; whereas annual site fees at Lyons’ other parks are in the region of £3600 to £4600, at Mounds the annual fee is £2995. Another benefit of Mounds is that the park is completely flat.

A number of owners’ events are organised throughout the year including days out to local race events, barbecues and other excursions.

The park has a coffee lounge, library and adventure play area. Owners here can make use of all of the attractions at the nearby Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park.

The newly opened Parc Siopa Prestatyn, which is just a few minutes down the road from the park, has a Tesco superstore, various fashion outlets including Next, River Island, TK Maxx and Marks and Spencer as well as places to eat and drink.
