Park Review: Lone Pine Park

There’s a road in Ferndown, Dorset, known as Millionaires’ Row. It’s actually called Golf Links Road but stick with the millionaire thought for now…

Lone Pine Park enjoys a beautiful location, secluded in its own little enclave amid some of southern England’s most magnificent homesteads. Lone Pine Park, though, was here long before those homesteads on Golf Links Road were built. The park dates back more than 110 years, when tent camping began here. Evolution took the park from camping ground to lodge park – and then to its present-day prestige status, an estate of some of the most luxurious park homes you can buy. Development has brought along exquisite landscaping and beautiful gardens, yet it retains the woodland atmosphere that has been the character of Lone Pine Park since its inception.

It’s a natural, peaceful setting, 14.5 acres of woodland adjacent to the members-only Ferndown Golf Course and with endless walking opportunities direct from the park through beautiful SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) heathlands.

Lone Pine Park feels wonderfully remote in its woodland setting, yet it’s close to amenities; there’s a regular bus service to Ferndown, Bournemouth and the Castlepoint shopping centre.

Homes are architecturally rather magnificent in terms of external design and internally can be bespoke designed to buyers’ exact requirements. Prices start at £250,000 and rise to considerably more, reflecting the prestigious park and its beautiful location with high-end homes.

All new homes have private landscaped gardens with blocked paved driveways and can have a garage or shed if required.

They’re all built to residential standard BS3632 of course and come with a 10-year warranty.

There’s a good choice of properties, constructed by manufacturers including Lissett, Stately-Albion, Cambrian Sovereign and Prestige Homeseeker.

Buying made easy

Lone Pine Park offers a Home Exchange service which avoids the hassles of selling on the open market; no last-minute purchaser cancellations or price haggles – and there are no estate agent and solicitor fees. Home Exchange takes care of every detail for you, enabling you to move into your new Lone Pine Park home quickly and easily.

It works like this: Having reserved your plot at Lone Pine Park, the Home Exchange scheme uses its marketing expertise and its network of estate agents to sell your property quickly; the scheme’s aim is to sell your property within two/three months.

ABOUT THE REGION

Ferndown

Ferndown, just over two miles from Lone Pine Park, is on the edge of the New Forest. It’s close to the A31, and has two supermarkets and three coffee shops. It’s a small, pleasant town; the name Ferndown derives from an Anglo-Saxon word meaning wooded hill.

Bournemouth

Around 10 minutes’ drive from Lone Pine Park is the sedate resort of Bournemouth, with excellent shops including department stores and a gorgeous stretch of golden Blue Flag beaches, perfect for walks at any time of the year. Bournemouth has a traditional pier and lovely promenade that stretches for miles, with a land train running on it during the summer months. Palm trees thrive in the mild climate that characterises this area. Here, you’ll always feel you’re on holiday!

More beaches

A short walk away is Alum Chine beach where you can explore tropical gardens. The land train also takes you to East Overcliff, from where you have magnificent  views of Boscombe beach. And there’s more… Hengistbury Head beach can also be reached by land train. It’s a noted place for fishing.

The New Forest

The New Forest is a National Park with an enchanting character. The remote beauty of gorse-spangled heathland, the serene scene of the iconic New Forest ponies roaming freely nibbling their nourishment from the varied vegetation and some of Britain’s prettiest little villages are just some of its attractions. Then there’s the coastline. The yacht harbour of Lymington, with its exquisite white-cottaged, pedestrian-only lane winding down to the water’s edge, is arguably the jewel in the New Forest coast’s crown. A place to visit again and again.

Make for Highcliffe-on-Sea and take a walk along the shore or around the magnificent Highcliffe Castle. Then go to nearby Christchurch, a quiet little market town whose main street leads down to the quay, a ruined castle-fort, several nature reserves and beautiful river walks.

Living on the doorstep of all this would surely be idyllic, with plenty of places to ensure days out would be a joy.
