Park Home Review: Oakgrove

Oakgrove, which manufactures in Londonderry, works with more than 50 parks in England and has a UK Show Centre in Littlehampton, West Sussex, plus a base in Bristol, close to the M5 at Aztec West, where buyers can go to choose furnishing and fabric options. That’s a key component of the Oakgrove service.

Another key element is that Oakgrove sites all of its homes prior to them going on sale, and homes are designed to suit the plot, maximising views from all aspects. Oakgrove carries out a handover with each park operator, as Managing Director Noel Flanagan explained to us. “We believe that the entire manufacturing process must be lead with a customer focus. Each of our homes is built through a bespoke process. From the initial meeting with the customer right through to the delivery and siting of the home, we aim to make the whole process as smooth as possible.”

Straight away this home’s layout strikes you as being stunning; you enter directly into the dining area, through big French windows. Ahead is the kitchen and, to the left, sliding doors lead to the lounge which spans the width of this 20ft x 46ft home. A feature wall catches our eyes first as we enter the lounge. It’s a media and display wall, with glass shelves, cabinets across the base and bold oak shelving in the central area where there’s space for your television and much more.

An L-shaped sofa arrangement and an occasional traditional-style leather armchair with studded trim mixes classic furnishings with modernity.

The kitchen is stunning, with solid quartz worktops. The induction hob, microwave and oven are made by NEFF; the oven is a Hide & Slide model.

The cabinetry is matt pale blue and grey with a Roman blind that marries the two colours over the window. Adjoining the kitchen, in a utility area, is a wall of cupboards hiding the central heating system, the washer-dryer and the fridge-freezer as well as providing extra storage. The induction hob is angled, with a recessed stone shelf behind it; a stunning arrangement that oozed practicality as well as style.

From the dining room, a glass panelled door leads to the study and the bedrooms beyond.

The bathroom, with over-bath shower, has a tall, heated towel rail. The surface, extending the width of the bathroom, is stone, like that in the kitchen.

The main bedroom has calming colours, with a pale fawn bedhead and bedside tables in a style that is inspired by shaker and distressed wood.

This is an impressive home; we love the dining area entry, the stone kitchen and bathroom surfaces and the feature media wall in particular.

The front door leads you into a porchway, then into the open-plan dining-kitchen area. Double, glazed doors take you into the lounge. The colour scheme is soft light greys, lemon and pale blue. A log-effect fire stands in a plain-style fireplace. Two large, light grey sofas are laden with cushions.

The kitchen’s colour palette is soft cashmere and high-gloss Japanese pear, solid quartz worktop and stylish sloped furniture handles. Cooking equipment is a five-burner hob with a separate tower-style microwave, oven and grill.

An internal hallway leads from the dining area to the main bathroom and study along with the master bedroom themed in soft gold and white tones and has a walk-through wardrobe area which leads to a spacious en suite. The second double bedroom with sliding mirror wardrobe doors is themed in blue and white with soft downlighting over the bed.
