A revolutionary new design in holiday homes arrives from Tingdene. The two-storey Loft, inspired by Manhattan loft apartments, is of modular construction and has a metal-and-wood spiral staircase in the centre of the lounge

The Loft is a stunning, two-storey holiday home with a spiral staircase, a Juliet-style balcony and a modular construction which enables each home to be ready for habitation within a week of arriving on a park.

Designed and manufactured by Tingdene Homes under new THL Modular branding, the project was conceived last year. Tingdene has always been innovative with designs so this has come about as a result of pushing the boundaries of holiday lodge design. The home quickly evolved into the design pictured here. The Loft will be available with either two or three bedrooms.

Tingdene tells us that the ethos behind the design involved building a two-storey home that could be quickly sited, provide as much living space as possible with minimal use of land and fit into the luxury holiday lodge market that has grown exponentially since the ‘staycation’ boom.

The result is a revolutionary new design. The Loft is constructed using a steel A-frame with cedar cladding and high-spec finishing touches. The home is LABC (Local Authority Building Control) approved and built to building regulation standards. The unique aspect of the Loft is its modular construction. The home is factory built, including full kitchen fit-out, delivered to a park and craned into place. It arrives in two parts (the upper and lower parts are separate).

The superstructure is a light gauge galvanised steel frame; that includes internal walls and roof trusses.

The roof tiles are made of light weight polypropylene compound.

The Loft is a truly amazing holiday home that oozes luxury appeal. The kitchen is L-shaped, fitted with grey units. Equipment includes a four-burner induction hob, an eye-level stainless steel electric oven and integrated microwave, a fridge-freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher; all these appliances are Bosch. There’s also a wine cooler and over-hob extractor.

The Loft Kitchen

A door leads (onto decking) from the centre of the front window doors that are topped with an atrium window. A Brise-Soleil roof feature (which protects the building from sun) extends the width of the lodge on both sides and provides a stunning design feature.

The Loft doesn’t sit on a chassis; it has a ring beam base – a steel structure which runs around the edge of the building and sits on jack pads positioned at intervals long the structure.

The lounge-dining-kitchen area layout is open-plan, with the spiral staircase rising from the centre of the room. Bold blue fabric upholsters two settees and four large chairs which surround a circular dining table.

The Loft Lounge

The staircase leads to a stunning atrium, balcony-style entrance to the large main bedroom. Blue is the accent colour here, too; the style of the loft is ocean-and-countryside mixed together – awesome!

The Loft Bedroom

The second bedroom is on the ground floor. Both bedrooms have en suites, with beautiful driftwood-theme tiling.
