Southwaite Green Mill is a family-run park which has been owned by the Heath family for the past thirty years. The site development opened in August 1994, and today is recognised as one of the prime park home developments in the Lake District.

The park is situated adjacent to the River Eamont in the village of Eamont Bridge, approximately a mile from the attractive town of Penrith. The town’s central feature is the Monument and Clock Tower, built in 1861. There is a mix of traditional shops and sophisticated arcades, and local craft shops where such items as the famous Penrith toffee and fudge and Cumberland sausage can be found.

Penrith has its own Tourist Information Centre, library, bus and railway stations, both with good links countrywide. On the outskirts of town is Penrith Hospital with a minor accident department, and The Health Centre where most doctors’ practices can be found. The town also has a new leisure centre and swimming baths, and there is a good golf course on the outskirts of town.

Leading off Penrith’s main streets, many of the old yard entrances carry interesting inscriptions on the lintels. It also has many buildings of architectural and historic interest, including the site of the demolished Moot Hall, once the home of William Cookson, the grandfather of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. William and Dorothy attended school in Penrith. The building remains, facing on to St Andrews churchyard and next to the library.

Carlisle is the nearest city, lying approximately twenty miles from the park. This historic city has a variety of large stores.

Southwaite Green Park is currently undergoing further development. All homes come with tiled roofs, and UPVC windows and doors. They are fully furnished to your choice of colour schemes, and can be adapted at the factory for most disabilities. All homes are located with ample room for a garage and conservatory, subject to local planning consent. All have an outside recreational area with optional garden, grassed or paved area (dependant on home owner’s preference). There is underground piped LPG and electric metered to each home. Underground BT cables are in place if required. The site has a refuse collection point with weekly collections. A post box is on site with daily collections, and a mobile grocery van calls on a weekly basis.
