Editor’s Pick: The top residential park of October 2020 – Middletown Heights, Powys
The Editor of Park & Holiday Home Inspiration magazine has chosen Laird Estates' Middletown Heights as the top residential park of October 2020.
In a lovely region of hills and valleys, close to where the Welsh county of Powys meets Shropshire, lies a residential park with views from every plot. Middletown Heights is at the foot of the Breidden Hills, just one mile over the Welsh border. So, if you are not quite sure whether you’d like to live in England or Wales, this could be your place! At present, two plots are available on the park, owned by Laird Estates.
Middletown Heights has a distinctive character. That’s not just about the lovely views. It’s about the large size of the plots – and the fact that many of the homes have conservatories, which is very unusual on a park home estate. They make Middletown Heights look as much like a modern bricks and mortar estate as a park home development – which we really like. After all, apart from construction, there’s arguably little difference between a park home and a bungalow.
While some park owners don’t welcome conservatories, Laird Estates positively encourages them. For example, at the time of my visit, Laird had just expanded a Prestige Homeseeker Minuet, which was in the process of a sale, by having a conservatory built at the rear – and a porch, too.
So, splendid views, large plots and conservatories are three of the reasons why I chose Middletown Heights as this month’s Editor’s Pick of residential parks. There’s one more: convenient proximity to towns. Middletown Heights is just six miles from Welshpool, for centuries a major centre for agricultural trading and now home to three supermarkets and a good selection of shops. All you need is at hand here, plus weekly markets. When you want to venture a little further, the character town of Shrewsbury, on the River Severn, is nine miles from Middletown Heights. River trips, lots of eateries, some very classy clothes shops, galleries, antique shops and one of the finest wine shops in the country (Tanners) is all spread out for you to enjoy again and again.
The park, and the region, are first-rate places; making a move here is a very enticing prospect.
