The Editor of Park & Holiday Home Inspiration magazine has chosen Omar's Newmarket park home as the top residential home of October 2020.

For a home to be Editor’s Pick, it has to be exceptional in some way. For the Newmarket park home, that attraction is its simplicity – and its affordability, a fact that was brought to our attention recently during a visit to one of the Laird Estates parks.

Last September, Laird Estates added two parks to the company’s portfolio. Plots and homes at Peaklands Park in the Peak District of Derbyshire sold out quickly – and by far the most popular home there was the Newmarket. No surprise, then, that a Newmarket show home is shortly to arrive at the other new Laird Estates purchase, Middletown Heights, six miles from Welshpool, in Welsh borderland. That’s where the Newmarket’s popularity came to our attention.

“The Newmarket has been our most popular home since it was unveiled,” Bill Laird explained as we walked around the 34-home park. Why? One reason is that it’s well-priced. The 45ft by 12ft Newmarket that will be arriving at Middletown Heights will be £127,000. Although price is an undeniably important factor, buyers don’t pick a home on price alone. The Newmarket is a very appealing home, with floor-to-ceiling windows in all rooms, making it light and bright throughout.

The layout is semi open-plan, with the kitchen open to the dining area. Together, these two areas span the width of the home. A part-wall separates the kitchen from the lounge. Fawn and cream shades predominate, together with white, ensuring that the lounge, dining area and kitchen are beautifully bright.

There’s a cool elegance about the Newmarket. Nothing ostentatious – just clean, contemporary lines and a plainly quality appeal. The convex black glass framing of the flame-effect fire in the lounge is a nice touch of cosiness. And the ultra-modern, cool grey and white exterior colour scheme makes sure the Newmarket is a home to be noticed.
