Editor's Pick - Residential Home: Tingdene Kensington

f14d2da1-ed5e-45bc-8044-07122471ae49

The name Kensington conjures images of something of grandeur; even palatial. Tingdene’s residential home that borrows the name of a palace actually does have features that create a look of grandeur. Among them are the arched Georgian windows, classic fireplace and pillared entrance.

This is an imposing home and, while there are traditional elements to its styling, there are also ultra-modern ones, notably the kitchen. This is a creation of pure white, of plainest handleless cabinets and white bevelled-edge tiles. Gorgeous!

The white bevelled edge tile styling continues in the en suite suite room and in the bathroom – where, here, it mingles with tradition in the form of a free-standing, roll top bath that stands on super-chunky chrome feet.

Patterned fabrics are used sparingly in the Kensington. Curtains are subtle. Upholstery is plain, yet there is a geometric-pattered panel above the fireplace – and it works really well. This amalgam of styles that create the Kensington’s character ensures it’s a stunning, head-turner home.

The Kensington is available in various sizes including a 50ft by 20ft home that has a study; always a strong point in a home’s favour.

There is, though, now also a smaller Kensington available. It’s ideal for a small plot – or a smaller budget, too. There are two versions, a 45ft by 12ft and a 42ft by 13ft. Both have single rooms as the guest room.

Back, though, to the huge 50ft by 20ft Kensington. A washing machine and dishwasher are integrated, there’s a skylight in the kitchen, a double oven, and vaulted ceilings in both the kitchen and dining area. This is a luxurious home of great, classic character.
