Advice: The benefits of park home living

Type ’benefits of buying a park home’ into Google and you instantly get five: Living affordably in a real community. More affordable than a bricks and mortar home. A great quality of life. Safety and security. Low maintenance living.

Dig a little deeper and you find the Quickmove Properties’ list, which starts with ‘more affordable than a bricks and mortar home’, then mentions energy efficiency and lower bills, lower Council Tax payments, and lots of open space, qualifying this with: “Unlike some urban streets, park homes offer their residents a sizeable piece of land between homes.”

The Park and Holiday Home Inspiration team is well versed in the benefits of park home living and we’re always happy to enthuse about the whole concept. This time though, we sought out some opinions from parks groups...

Long lasting

Avon Estates, which has park home developments in Warwickshire and Shropshire, sets out its top reasons for buying a park home, including ‘ease of maintenance’, ‘lower prices’, ‘quality builds’, ‘lower utility costs’ and adds that park homes, with proper care, are ‘long lasting’.

For every budget

Berkeleyparks points out that ‘park homes come in so many different sizes and layouts, for every taste and budget, that there’s sure to be one that’s perfect for you.’ And adds: “You can have L-shaped or rectangular living rooms. If you like entertaining, you may prefer a separate dining room. On the other hand, you might find a large kitchen-diner more practical. Would you like a utility room or a cloakroom off the hall? The choice is yours. Now’s your chance to have a beautifully fitted kitchen, complete with built-in oven and hob and extractor fan.”

Value for money

Turners Parks Group, which has 36 parks across the country, lists the six chief benefits of park home living as: value for money, location, community, quality of life, financial security and peace of mind.

Help design the layout

Tingdene Parks’ enticing viewpoint sets out the icing on the park home choice cake: “It’s not every day you get to sit down and help design the layout of your dream home, choose the fixtures and fittings and, if you wish, watch a home being built in the factory! So, whichever park home manufacturer you choose, remember to have fun and enjoy.”

Financial freedom

Laird Estates, which has parks in Scotland, Wales and England, offers an equally engaging view: “Buying a park home is an excellent affordable way to purchase a brand-new luxury home with no Stamp Duty to pay, and minimal maintenance and Council Tax in Band A”.

There is so much you can do, whilst being in a home that’s perfect for you and your needs. General living costs in a park home are much cheaper. Add to this the fact that Council Tax tends to be within the lowest brackets, unlike bricks and mortar, and it’s easy to see why the popularity of residential parks is increasing all of the time.”
