Editor's Pick: The top holiday home of January 2021 – Prestige Homeseeker Dovecote
The Dovecote is an extraordinary holiday lodge. While it’s possible to have a hot tub installed on the decking of a lodge – and many lodge owners do – this lodge takes the hot tub concept a great leap further. The Dovecote is actually designed around a hot tub; it has a specific area of decking constructed for a hot tub to be sunken into it.
The Dovecote, thus, takes lodge luxury to a new level. And there’s more. It has two large bedrooms, each with a shower en suite; doors from both shower rooms lead out to the hot tub decking area.
We spotted the Dovecote on display at Prestige Homeseeker’s showground while we were reviewing the Foresters, Harleigh and Hampton for our ‘new models feature’ elsewhere in this issue. So, it gets Editor’s Pick status because it’s unusual – and because it’s perfectly designed for the growing trend to have hot tubs as a feature of the leisure lodge lifestyle.
This is a luxurious lodge packed with style elements. These include a tall, matt grey radiator in the lounge, and an enormous clock made of black metal strips and circles, with small brass hands; no numbers, just gorgeous styling. Black metal is used for the construction of a light fitting over the dining table, multifaceted, with no glazing, just a plain bulb.
The dining alcove forms an L-shape with the lounge, which has a cottage-style, ‘log burner’ electric fire as its focal point. A half-height wall creates separation between the kitchen and the lounge, forming a semi open-plan layout. Kitchen equipment includes a washer-dryer, eye-level oven, dishwasher and wine cooler.
The Dovecote also has a new and very useful feature: zip-link beds in the second bedroom, so that you can switch between twin beds or a double.
