Focus on South West: Cornwall's Enchanting Coastline

CHAPEL PORTH

Chapel Porth is perfect for early morning walks along the large expanse of golden sand. The constant roar of breaking waves and the smell of sea spray in the air, this is the place to get your coastal fix. You’ll be spellbound by the beauty of the place, and early morning out of season you could even have the place to yourself. Under the care of the National Trust, parking is easy here.

FISTRAL

Quite possibly the most famous Cornish beach, Fistral is the home of British surfing and the place to come for watersports and activity. The beach has a choice of cafés and restaurants too.

GWITHIAN

Backed by grassy dunes that are a haven for birds, Gwithian Towans has a large beach to enjoy at low tide along with rock pools and caves that are uncovered. It’s a great beach for children, especially, to explore.

READYMONEY COVE

To the south of the harbour town of Fowey, lies this small sandy cove. It’s sheltered by cliffs and with the medieval town of Fowey on one side and a castle on the other.

ST IVES BAY

If you want a lot of beach, then here it is! St Ives Bay is a crescent-shaped expanse stretching for over four miles and backed in places by grassy dunes.

SUMMERLEAZE

Less than five minutes’ walk from Bude this beach is particularly special due to the unique sea pool. Part man-made and part natural rock pool, this salt-water pool is refreshed daily by the tide.
