Rapido 8066dF Motorhome
Description
An Al-Ko chassis, double floor and rear single beds make for a popular package…
Full Review
Rapido’s range stretches to 13 different A-class layouts, compared with eight low-profiles and four panel vans, so it’s something of a specialist in the sector. The 80dF Series sits in the middle of that portfolio, above the C Series (compact) range and 8F, below the Distinction.
It differs from the 8F in having an Al-Ko chassis (and double floor), rather than the 8F’s low-frame chassis direct from Fiat, but both of these ranges received a new look this season.
The major facelift comprises a new front panel, new windscreen (designed for improved driver visibility) and cab side windows, new rear end, a redesigned cab door and improved insulation.
But it’s not just an update on the outside; the 2026 models feature a new furniture design (choose from light, bright Aurora or the darker wood of Palatina, shown), a larger and better integrated drop-down bed in the cab and a more angular design for the kitchen (with the boiler moved to increase storage).
The new exterior look is certainly bolder and more modern, while retaining typical marque colouring with grey and red graphics.
Double floor
There are two island bed layouts in the 80dF range, plus this single bed model, measuring 7.49m overall. It can be specified as a 3,500kg vehicle, if that’s required for your driving licence, but an upgrade to 3,700kg might be advisable if you want to make the most of the double floor and garage storage here.
The double floor features a 20cm depth and basement locker space right across the width of the motorhome, while also housing the 130-litre fresh water and 110-litre waste tanks. As well as enhancing winterisation, the double floor ensures a flat floor through the living area.
The garage has two full-sized loading doors, 1.20m headroom and a generous limit of 300kg. It comes with fixed lashing points, an LED strip light on the back wall, a 230V socket and a hot/cold external shower.
The options
That’s one of a number of extra features fitted as standard to right-hand drive Rapidos. Here, you also get Truma Combi 6 EH gas/230V heating, an oven/grill, a second 92Ah AGM leisure battery, dual-lens bus-style mirrors, rear steadies and removable carpets.
You’ll still need to add the Select Pack, though, which adds a 6.8in Pioneer multimedia system, reversing camera, all-season tyres, a flyscreen door, etc. Even so, this French motorhome looks good value for an A-class with double floor and Al-Ko chassis.
Super-comfy lounge
Step inside and you’ll also be impressed by the 8066dF’s contemporary design, with a sharp contrast between the dark wood and white gloss with this Palatina finish and the distinctive angular furniture. And the appeal isn’t just visual – the lounge area is super-comfy, with its newly designed seat cushions and armrests on each sofa.
The table folds in half and the settees can be converted into travel seats if you want to take advantage of the extra berths in the cab’s drop-down double.
Rear single beds
The rear singles are the main sleeping space, though, and they’re a good size with an unusual angled shape to the foot of each mattress – 1.95m to 2.15m long on the nearside, 2.03m to 2.15m on the offside.
There are wardrobes (with an 85cm drop) under both beds and useful bedside shelves but the overhead lockers prevent you sitting up in bed.
Kitchen and washroom
The ablutions are well-planned, with a shower on one side and toilet room opposite (storage includes straps to keep everything in situ).
The kitchen is stylish, too, with the two-burner hob set well back in the counter to create more preparation space. The drawers lock automatically when you drive.
The downside is that the oven (added for the UK market) has to be sited above the 156-litre three-way fridge, making it rather too high.

Our Verdict
An A-class priced to compete with the top end of the low-profile sector, despite its double floor and Al-Ko chassis. With its new interior and modernised exterior, the 8066dF offers a stylish way to spend £100k.
