Full Review

Introduced two years ago with a fresh, modern look, Pilote’s Atlas range added the Ford Transit to the Nantes-based company’s portfolio with, initially, a pair of layouts in a slimline low-profile format. Now, for 2026, there are two more Atlas models and the French marque’s portfolio has been simplified, so that Atlas encompasses the brand’s most petite motorhomes – none more so than this 6.30m motorhome with a modest 2.20m overall width.

It’s a striking looker, with a Magnetic Grey cab (featuring the FORD-branded Trail grille) and black alloy wheels, while the steeply angled – and angular – overcab (with inset sunroof) and bold geometric red and grey graphics give a more contemporary demeanour than Pilote’s Fiat-based models. There are black details top and bottom on the rear panel, which also features slim LED road lights. All good, apart from the rather lengthy rear overhang, although the wide rear track will help offset any
negative effects on the handling.

Comprehensive kit

It’s not just about the looks, because this new motorhome (along with other 2026 Atlas models) comes with the 165hp motor and eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Other chassis features include front fog lamps, an electric parking brake,
automatic air-conditioning, automatic lights and wipers, and the SYNC4 12in touchscreen with reversing camera. ESP, hill
holder, lane departure warning and lane assist, collision alert and emergency braking are also fitted.

And despite this motorhome’s compactness, it doesn’t miss out on storage – the rear garage (note the ‘G’ in the name!) has 1.10m headroom, adjustable lashing points, a 230V socket and an outside shower, as well as a sliding door to reach the space from the living area. There’s easy access here to the habitation electrics and AGM leisure battery – the optional Lithium Pack (costing £1,150) upgrades the battery and adds a 100W solar panel.

Excellent bedroom

The main bedroom – a star feature – is, of course, above the garage, where a 2.00m by 1.40m transverse double bed is
accessed via two steps. Once in bed there’s room to sit up, while a roof vent and rear window provide ventilation. A tall locker next to the bed and lockers on the back wall cater for clothes storage, but the hanging rail below the mattress is only adequate for a couple of garments each.

If you need more berths, an optional (£1,760) electric drop-down bed in the lounge measures 1.87m by 0.86m (enough for one adult or, perhaps, two small kids). It blocks the doorway when lowered, but not the galley.

Side settees

The lounge itself has a single offside seat and a proper sofa opposite, as well as the swivel cab chairs and a fold-in-half table. It’s unusual to find a spacious face-to-face lounge in such a compact fixed bed layout but the downside here is revealed when converting the benches into travel seats – the offside travel seat is rear-facing, although it does have a three-point belt.

Kitchen & bathroom

The kitchen is quite compact but a loose cover for the sink adds a bit of worktop and there are wall-mounted shelves for
condiments and washing-up liquid. It’s a smart-looking zone with its blue/grey door fronts and backlit window surround. Four drawers give practical storage but you’ll lose some of this if you spec the optional oven (£580). Adjacent is the 142-litre fridge.

Even the washroom packs a lot in, with plenty of leg and shoulder room on the toilet, two mirrors and a ‘salad bowl’ basin. Then the washbasin swings around to create a generous shower with twin drains and a recess for your gel.

More standard features

Other standard features of this stylish and petite newcomer from France include Truma Combi 4 gas heating with crash sensor, and 100-litre fresh and 90-litre waste water tanks (the latter frost-protected).

Plenty of Pilotes to purchase...

The marque from Nantes has been represented here since the 1980s, so there are Pilotes at every price point to tempt you.

Our Verdict

This new addition to the Atlas range works best as a two-berth but it packs a lot into just 6.30m and does so with a contemporary feel throughout. The rear bedroom is especially appealing.

Advantages
Compact length and width
Open and comfy lounge
Modern design
Excellent rear bedroom
165hp motor and automatic gearbox
Garage and good payload

Disadvantages

Fourth travel seat is rear-facing
Long rear overhang
