Full Review

Morelo is in a league of its own in the UK, competing above premium brands such as Carthago, Hymer and Le Voyageur in the rarefied world of the liner. In Germany, comparisons would be made with Concorde and Phoenix but such marques are not represented here – although at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf these behemoths have their own hall.

Immodestly, Morelo refers to its vehicles as ‘First Class Reisemobile’. For 2025, Morelo becomes even more premium as the former entry model, the Home, disappears from the catalogue. So, Loft is now the starting point (from €221,750 before options) and it is joined by the Loft Premium – a new stepping stone in the range between the Loft and Palace with 10 models ranging from 8.44m to 9.14m. All are built on an Iveco Daily 70 C 18 chassis with 3-litre diesel motor (175hp or 207hp) and a maximum gross weight of 7,490kg – just within the confines of a C1 category licence. At 3.49m they stand head and shoulders above lesser motorhomes, while they’re also a tad wider, at 2.40m. In the cab, they show few signs of their commercial vehicle origins as Morelo uses its own fascia design, with just the dials and switches carried over.

The captain’s chairs come with integral seatbelts but these can be upgraded to heated chairs with lumbar support and their own suspension. The optional removable steering wheel makes rotating the driver’s seat easier and you can even have a refrigerated drinks cooler in the dashboard. Morelo is calling the new Loft and Loft Premium ‘the start of a new era’ thanks to their redesigned interiors using new, modern materials. But it’s not just about a contemporary look for the furniture, as the new models are distinct from their forebears externally with a curved windscreen (better aerodynamics, improved driver visibility), as well as full-width tail lights incorporating a bridge light for braking.

However, they remain quite clearly from the Morelo family. Inside, the redesigned Loft Premium claims ‘more kitchen, more bathroom, more payload, more lighting design’. That payload can exceed two tonnes, while the interior impresses with a feeling of space, as you’d expect, and this is emphasised by the seating area opening at a slight angle towards the rest of the living space, forming a harmonious line with the kitchen. The lounge in this 86 LB model is particularly appealing as the luxurious L-settee on the nearside is joined by a ‘bar layout’ opposite with its third captain’s chair and generous but unintrusive table. A 32in TV that slides away electrically behind the sofa is available, too, but it’s the new handleless cabinetwork that really changes the ambience compared with the very conservative décor of earlier Morelos.

The kitchen

Meanwhile, Morelo is moving away from caravan appliances in its vehicles, turning instead to high-quality household appliances and automotive electronics (with no fuses, just trip switches). Fridges now come from domestic manufacturer, BSH (Bosch and Siemens), with 172 litres of cooling and 15 litres of freezing capacity, while the fully fledged oven with microwave function ensures a similar upgrade and convenience in the kitchen. The new galley in the Loft Premium is 15cm longer than in the Loft and includes metal-framed drawers, a pull-out bottle rack, two-burner hob, waste bin and double sink. A dishwasher is another domestic appliance that you can specify as an option.

The washroom

Behind the culinary quarters, the shower and toilet are together on the nearside, with the washbasin and full-height wardrobe opposite – this whole spacious area can be separated from both the living area and bedroom (featuring conjoined twin beds) with sliding doors. Of course, the options list is long and comprehensive on a motorhome like this, with this show model priced at over €380,000 – but then you can spend double that on some Morelos…

Our Verdict

A new gap filler in the Morelo range, the Loft Premium sits between the Loft and Palace but the big news is the much more modern interior design that will appeal to a younger audience.
