The word ‘unique’ is greatly overused in the motorhome world as makers seemingly ignore, or are ignorant of, past innovations. But right now, in the 2026 season, we believe that Itineo’s JC740 – the newest member of the Famili range of A-class motorhomes – is unique in its bedroom configuration amongst vehicles on sale here.

Height-adjustable beds & garage

At first glance, this might be just another near-seven-and-a-half-metre motorhome with single beds over a garage – one of Europe’s most popular formats. But a switch in the garage reveals the unique feature – those beds are height adjustable. That’s pretty commonplace in island bed designs but, in single bed layouts, we reckon it’s the only one. 

Of course, with the height of the beds goes the height of the garage below, which varies from a decent 93cm in its lowest setting to a more e-bike-friendly 1.21m as a maximum. There are two doors into the garage (smaller on the nearside), fixed lashing points, a 230V socket, a light on the offside and an optional exterior shower. Maximum weight in here is 150kg, while total payload comes to 430kg (more if you choose either of the chassis upgrades).

A-class exterior

Externally, the JC740 looks much like any other Itineo A-class, although you won’t mistake it for any other brand. This season’s models do, however, gain a 50mm wider habitation door and a modern black frame around the windows.

A lidded drawer in the nearside skirt provides useful extra external storage (up to 25kg) as an optional extra, while a mysterious second cassette toilet hatch on the same side gives servicing access to the Truma boiler. The heating is also upgraded to a 6 E H gas/electric unit for the UK.
 

Star feature – the bedroom

But back to the star of the show – the bedroom. Here, the beds are 1.99m long (offside) and 1.94m (nearside). If you opt for maximum garage space then it all looks very conventional, but lower the beds and access becomes easier and there’s then room to sit up under the overhead lockers along the back wall. The only thing to note is that the beds rise and fall together, not separately, so you can’t have one high and one low.

You do, however, have another sleeping area up front, in the typical (manually lowered) A-class drop-down bed. This measures 1.90m by 1.40m and, unlike in a low-profile, it leaves most of your lounge usable when down. The seating area is generous, too, featuring side settees (with armrests and a comfortable height) and a folding dining table, creating a spacious and open living area that’s enhanced by the full-width cab and big windscreen. Those sofas convert into forward-facing travel seats when required.

Enhanced kitchen for the UK

Adjacent to the lounge, the kitchen has a 149-litre two-door fridge/freezer on one side and the L-shaped galley opposite. Cooking kit is upgraded to include a three-burner hob and an oven/grill for right-hand drive vehicles (compared with the LHD model photographed).

En suite facilities

From the kitchen, it’s a step up into the en suite, where the toilet door (on the nearside) swings round to close off the bedroom and a sliding door to the front creates a private full-width washroom.

The offside shower is a good size and comes with a drying rail, shampoo holder and a floor-to-ceiling blue LED. In the cubicle opposite is a Dometic cassette toilet, a wall of mirrors and a smart design of washbasin.
 

Options packs

There are various chassis and habitation options available but the Pack Life is a must have, adding an electric step, flyscreen for the door, LED running lights, a Pioneer multimedia system with 6.2in screen, reversing camera, Traction Plus, hill descent control and composite rear leaf springs and all-seasons tyres.

There’s also a Smart Pack (alloy wheels and ‘comfort’ steering wheel with radio controls) and Lounge Pack (automatic air-con in the cab, inductive phone charger and digital dashboard) if you want all the toys.

Our Verdict

The height-adjustable twin beds in this new Itineo make for a better bedroom when you don’t need maximum garage space, while also having the flexibility of extra height for bikes if required – all at the press of a switch.
