Key Features
Full Review
With this special edition model (also available in shorter ‘680’ form and as an overcab coachbuilt), Frankia is celebrating its sixty-fifth anniversary. It takes the Plus rear lounge layout, for which the brand is famous, and adds more equipment and more style for you to enjoy travelling together.
Heavy chassis
Basis is a Fiat Ducato 40 Heavy with low-frame Al-Ko chassis, top-spec 180hp motor and the eight-speed automatic transmission. Its 4,500kg maximum weight gives a useful payload of 758kg, which you’ll want in a motorhome featuring a large garage and double floor. Water capacities are quite generous, too – 150 litres fresh and 130 litres waste.
There’s also a 90-litre diesel tank, while base vehicle spec extends to include 16in alloy wheels, Traction Plus, a fully digital instrument cluster, front fog lights and reinforced front suspension. A rear view camera and wireless smartphone charging are also standard.
Double floor
You can recognise these special Frankias by their white and beige graphics with upturned ‘U’ motif. Full LED headlights promise enhanced night-time vision, while the tail lamps are also LED. But the most important exterior feature is the garage, which not only has the usual side doors but also a top-hinged flap in the rear wall for easier loading.
There’s 1.05m headroom inside, while the heated double floor offers even more storage with a 35cm height. Even the electric cable and water hose are built in on reels, found in an external hatch, so you don’t have to search for them in the garage.
Body construction is Frankia’s Thermo Guard Plus with hail-resistant GRP, Seitz S7 flush-fitting habitation windows, and an 11-year water ingress warranty. There’s central locking for the cab and habitation doors, rear corner steadies and a manual Thule roll-out awning is added to the specification.
Designed for off-grid touring
With a motorhome like this, you may well fancy some off-grid touring, so Frankia has also enhanced the Together Edition with a 320Ah lithium battery, two 110W solar panels and even a spare cassette for the toilet.
Alde’s ‘wet’ central heating system ensures that you can tour in all seasons, while an on-board WiFi router and 32in smart TV mean that you won’t be bored when the weather keeps you indoors.
Rear lounge layout
Of course, the real highlight of the Together 740 Plus is its end lounge, which makes the Frankia stand out in a sea of premium German A-classes with rear single bed floorplans.
Here, it’s the classic U-shape seating, with triple-aspect glazing and a rooflight providing a light and airy place to relax. Headrests and scatter cushions enhance sprawling comfort, while UK spec includes a removable table for an even more spacious feel.
UK-spec kitchen
When it comes to food preparation, the MaxiFlex kitchen is also changed to suit British tastes, including the sort of slot-in cooker (with separate grill and oven) that’s rarely seen in imported models.
A 160-litre fridge/freezer with doors that open from either side sits opposite. The worktop is made from impact-resistant high-pressure laminate (HPL), the drawers have soft-closing mechanisms and an extension adds to prep space.
Twin beds lower electrically
Although the Together doesn’t have the typically Germanic single bed layout, it does have twin beds – this time in electric drop-down form above the cab, so the front of the motorhome isn’t wasted space on the campsite.
Frankia claims bed lengths of up to 2m and width of the conjoined mattresses of 1.93m.
Adjacent to this bedroom is a full-width en suite, thanks to a large walk-in shower on the nearside and a toilet area opposite that combine into one spacious ablutions zone.
The loo has a ceramic bowl, while a heated towel rail is an extra benefit of the Alde heating. There’s a floor-to-ceiling XXL wardrobe, too.
Finally, the Together Edition offers four mix and match décor styles, special embroidered logos and a fashionable concrete-effect floor.

Our Verdict
If you want the best of premium German A-class luxury combined with a British-style rear lounge layout (and even UK-style removable table and full cooker), there really is only one choice. The extra spec, modern décor and reasonably modest 7.54m length are the icing on the cake.
