Wingamm launches 'eclectic' Micro

Wingamm Micro

New to the UK and with loads of Italian style and flair, the Micro from Wingamm of Verona will hold a certain appeal for those who would like something a little different from the standard T6 VW base.

‘Eclectic and unrivalled: an unprecedented synthesis between technology and aesthetics’, is how the company describes this rather unusual fibreglass monocoque (one-piece) compact motorhome.

The GRP construction offers clean and pleasing lines that complement the styling of the VW T6, although some may suggest that the flat squared-off rear gives the vehicle a somewhat stunted look. And it is small — it’s 5.3m in length and 2.12m in width. The slightly top-heavy look is because of the height, a tall 2.89m.

It may look a little small and stunted from the outside but there’s an astonishingly spacious feel inside and that’s solely down to the fact that there isn’t the usual large VW side-opening door. A rather narrow door is situated near the rear of the van and a side kitchen unit, with a double hob and a sink takes up one side of the interior. Opposite is a rather elegant lounge area with a choice of a double dinette or an L-shaped dinette.

The dinette converts into a three-quarter sized bed while a patented longitudinal double bed drops down from the ceiling. There is a toilet and shower area in the rear.

You have a choice of power outputs for T6 base vehicle — a 150PS or 204PS. There’s also an option of a 4Motion all-wheel drive system and a DSG automatic gearbox.

The complete interior is styled as you’d expect from an Italian company. This compact campervan is not short on flair and panache, but be prepared to pay through the nose for it. The standard Micros 150PS DSG (with an automatic 7-speed gearbox) will set you back a cool £76,995. Add another £3K if you fancy the 4x4 version.
