4G router modem creates Wi-Fi hotspot for mobile devices

Mobile communication specialist In-CarPC has announced a new, rugged 4G router that can create a reliable Wi-Fi hotspot that multiple mobile devices can connect to. The IBR1100 is a 4G router which can revert to a backup 3G network when out of range of the primary network because it supports dual SIMs. It works with high gain antennas mounted on the vehicle roof to pick up the mobile signal, then transmits a Wi-Fi signal to all your devices inside the vehicle. It can also work on campsites where there is free Wi-Fi. The high gain aerial can pick up Wi-Fi signals from much further away than individual phones and tablets, which it then rebroadcasts, enabling local electronic devices to connect to the source when they wouldn’t usually be able to do so because of the distance. The rugged unit also has three Ethernet ports and built-in GPS.

The IBR1100 costs £729+VAT, including overnight delivery but there are cheaper version with the GX400, 3G router costing £539+VAT and the one-SIM only GX450 4G router costing £589 plus VAT. Find out more about mobile routers at In-CarPC.
