Rapido to launch new Mercedes A-class range

Rapido's new M models will be launched in August

It is perhaps no surprise that Rapido is another manufacturer that will be offering motorhomes based on the new Mercedes Sprinter in 2020.

The French firm offered A-classes on Mercedes until 2014 and cites the difficulty of working with a rear-wheel drive chassis (especially with features such as a double floor) as the reason for cessation.

Its new M models, which will debut at Düsseldorf’s Caravan salon in August, are of course based on the new front-drive Sprinter with an Al-Ko chassis. Two 7.54m A-classes will be offered – M66 with single beds and M96 with an island bed – and each will be available in 3,500kg or 4,500kg derivatives.

Exterior styling and a new Duna interior décor will make them instantly recognisable from their Fiat-based cousins.
