Northern Motorcaravan Show moves to brand new venue

THE Northern Motorcaravan Show is moving to a brand new venue this year.

It will take place at the Pickering Showground and organisers have also revealed today that legendary performer Des O’Connor will be the Saturday evening’s headline act.

Show bosses say a multi-million pound drainage improvement scheme at York Racecourse will make it too difficult to return there so instead it will relocate to the nearby Pickering Showground, a stone’s throw from the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors.

Thousands of visitors will converge on the showground between September 19 and 21.

Exhibition manager Maxine Shepherd said: “We are pleased to have found a venue so close to York and, as it is a proper showground, it will give us more on-site facilities for our biggest event of the year.”

New for 2008 is one night's free camping. Anyone arriving on the Thursday can stay for five nights for the price of four.

Known as the “Gateway to the Yorkshire Moors” Pickering is a quaint town, full of rural charm.

The Spire of St Peter and St Paul’s Church dominates Pickering’s skyline, with Pickering Castle, Beck Isle Museum and the North Yorkshire Moors’ Railway being just some of the attractions the area has to offer.

Booking for the show opens on May 1.
