New project allows over 50s to sell their skills as a class or workshop

It's no secret that many motorhomers are fortunate enough to have retired, or are close to doing so. The Amazings is an online platform for retired and retiring people to pass on their skills as real life tours, talks, classes and courses. There are now over 120 workshops on offer.
According to the project, the popularity of nostalgia, craft and make-do-and-mend, has attracted hundreds of people to the workshops, and is growing fast to meet demand. There are plans to roll out The Amazings from its London base, nationwide in 2013.To become an Amazing you have to be over 50 years old. There are now classes covering everything from blending your own perfume and making a corset, to jazz guitar and nuclear physics.
The way the service works is simple:
• The Amazings suggest skills they would like to pass on
• The online community votes for the ones they would like to learn
• The most popular suggestions are turned into classes and courses for people to book and attend
Amazings Co-Founder Adil Abrar says: “There’s nothing better than learning from someone who has a lifetime of experience, sharing shortcuts that you won’t find in most books or websites, and dropping in little stories that make the learning experience really special.”
