New carbon-fibre motorhome from Slovenia

The Herman Grand Royal has a carbon-fibre body which makes considerable weight savings

The Herman Grand Royal could well be the world’s first carbon-fibre-bodied motorhome. This 7.30m Fiat-based low-profile from Slovenia is claimed to save 260kg over a conventional aluminium construction body. Surprisingly, the use of carbon-fibre is described as “not so much more expensive” – resulting in a German market price of €74,000 (around £62,700).

It also boasts lightweight wood veneer furniture, rather than the usual photo-finish wood, while at the rear it comes with a slide-out motorbike rack capable of carrying up to 300kg. Above is an elevating roof, creating an occasional second bedroom.

There is no UK importer currently but you can see more at hermanmobil.com.

There is full coverage of the 2017 motorhome launches in the November supplement, free with MMM. On sale 13 October.
