Motorhome news: Kabe motorhomes come to the UK

Swedish motorhome and campervan manufacturer Kabe is launching in the UK

Swedish motorhome and caravan manufacturer, Kabe, is to launch its coachbuilt low-profile and A-class motorhomes here.

The launch will be managed by British caravan maker, Coachman, which is the sole importer and distributor of Kabe in the UK. In July 2018, Kabe bought a 21% stake in Coachman.

Coachman is initially bringing in a single model, a 7.74m-long Swedish-specification Travel Master x780 LGB Crossover low-profile on a Fiat Al-Ko 4.5-tonne chassis with rear twin single beds and a drop-down double above the lounge,

It will display this single model at the February NEC show in Birmingham. While it will have a Swedish specification, it is being shown to demonstrate the build quality, style and options available, as well as to gauge interest from potential buyers prior to when the UK range of up to six models – three A-class and three low-profiles – are officially launched here in October.

All these UK-bound models will be right-hand drive and will be specified to suit British tastes. They will also have different exterior graphics. Weights will vary but it is likely all of the two-berth models will be on 3.5-tonne chassis and those offering more berths will be on heavier chassis (between 3,850kg and 5,500kg).

All will be built on the Fiat Ducato base with all models over 3,850kg using an Al-Ko chassis frame.

Between this first showing in February and the official launch in October, Coachman will be appointing up to six dealers to sell the Swedish brand here. It is expected that some of these will be current Coachman caravan dealers.

More details on what the new models will be and their prices and specifications will be confirmed in the summer.

*The Kabe will be on display on the Coachman stand (1200) at the NEC show in Birmingham on February 19 to 24.
