German motorhome manufacturer, Hymer, reveals all-new Exsis twins for 2018
German premium motorhome manufacturer, Hymer, has revealed two new Exsis coachbuilts, which are the highlight of its 2018 range of new motorhomes and van conversions.
The new Exsis-i 588 is a four-berth A-class that features a drop-down bed above the cab and twin rear single beds above a huge garage.
The low-profile Exsis-t meanwhile loses the drop-down but otherwise retains the same layout, although it is slightly shorter at 6.94m compared to 6.99m for the Exsis-i.
Both are built on the Fiat Ducato cab coupled to Al-Ko’s low-frame chassis, which comes at 3.5-tonne as standard or 4.5-tonne as an option.
The cabs are identical with a host of driver safety kit as standard and swivel captain’s chairs with twin armrests.
There are two forward-facing travel seats within the dinette sofa, which extends to incorporate a side-facing seat, making the lounges a comfortable place for five to dine at the large multi-directional fixed table.
Behind the dinette sofa is an all-new washroom, which has also been redesigned for 2018. Opposite this is the kitchen, which has a family-sized fridge freezer, three-burner Smev gas hob with electric ignition alongside a sink and loads of low-level storage. There’s a handy flip-up worktop extension and covers for the hob and sink to provide more temporary work surface. The kitchen counter top comes with a new anti-fingerprint surface. In the models we saw there was no oven or grill but it is likely dealers will have these fitted for the British market.
In addition, both of these new Exsis motorhomes’ garages are twin access and have load heights of 99cm x 108cm, meaning they can swallow two bicycles with ease.
As with all Hymer coachbuilts, these two new models are built using Hymer’s wood-free PUAL technology and attention has been paid to saving even more weight – on the 3.5-tonne chassis, there’s 660kg on the Exsis-i and a massive 770kg on the Exsis-t.
However, this is before any options or additional equipment have been added. And buyers should expect the UK models to be specified by the importing dealers – there are 11 Hymer motorhome dealers in the UK – to make them more appealing to British buyers with things like ovens, Combi 6E boilers and carpets, none of which are standard on the European models.
British prices for the new Exsis have not yet been confirmed, but European prices are €60,990 for the Exsis-t 588 and €72,390 for the Exsis-i 588.
