Dethleffs launches all-new A-class

German motorhome and campervan manufacturer, Dethleffs, has revealed its 2026 season of models and key among the new ranges is an all-new twin-axle A-class designed for families.

Other key news for the 2026 season from Dethleffs, which is part of the Erwin Hymer Group, is the arrival of its 4x4 Volkswagen Crafter-based Performance in right-hand drive.

The manufacturer has also introduced its Active pack across three ranges – Trend and XXXX – and has updated its Globetrail campervan range.

A-Class XL Family

But back to the all-new A-class, which joins the existing XL Family overcab range. The first of what will be two A-class models in the Family range is the twin-axle XL Family I 7812-2.

With five berths, plenty of storage space and an impressive payload capacity, the fully winterproof, Dethleffs says this new model is perfect for longer holidays with family or friends.

At the rear are twin single beds (both 200cm by 80cm), while above the cab is a drop-down double bed (196cm by 150cm). The final of the five berths is created from the front lounge, which has twin facing sofas.

This new A-class is 8.6m long and is built on an AL-KO low-frame 5.4-tonne chassis and the 180bhp automatic Fiat Ducato.

In the cab, the standard specification includes a Naviceiver with sound system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and an external DAB+ radio, full LED headlights, cab climate control, cruise control, two reversing cameras and a central locking system for the cab and the habitation door.

A host of driver assistance systems are also included: emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, traction control, hill hold, hill descent control, crosswind assist, trailer stability control, traffic sign recognition, driver fatigue detection, high beam assist and a rain sensor.

The low-frame chassis provides room for a heated double floor with a height of 27cm. All water installations are frost-protected within this insulated space. The rear chassis extension is lowered by 220 mm, creating additional storage space in the rear garage.

Features include a hot-water/heating system that is allergy-friendly and is linked to the engine cooling system via a heat exchanger. This allows the engine to be prewarmed while stationary, helping to avoid wear-intensive cold starts.

Conversely, the engine’s residual heat can be effectively utilised to warm up the living area while driving. As part of its winterised standard specification, the XL Family I 7812-2 also features a “warm water carpet” in the cab and electrically heated wing mirrors. Double-glazed, flush-fitting windows further reduce heat loss.

As standard there is also AirPlus rear ventilation behind the overhead lockers to prevent condensation.

Entry is via a 70cm-wide habitation door into a lounge with an interior height of 2.08m. the seating is finished in grey mottled upholstery from the Dethleffs’ Floyd upholstery line, paired with furniture in the Noce Nagano wood decor.

The lockers all have handle-free doors and a soft-close mechanism, which pulls the doors shut and locks them automatically.

The lounge consists of twin facing sofas with a wraparound twin bench seat (with two seatbelts) and back cushions in the corner section, along with a large table with a height-adjustable leg.

An additional forward-facing folding seat with a three-point seatbelt is available as an optional extra. The standard specification also includes an Isofix mounting point for child seats.

The L-shaped kitchen layout includes a newly designed two-burner gas hob, as well as a redesigned sink. A large, flush-fitting glass lid covers the hob when not in use. There is also a 137-litre fridge/freezer compartment with an integrated oven above and large drawers below the hob and sink with an Omnivent roof fan above.

Directly behind the kitchen is the en suite with a washroom and sink on one side and a full-sized shower room opposite. By opening the washroom door, this entire wash area can be separated from the living area to create a private dressing room – including direct access to one of the two floor-to-ceiling wardrobes.

The rear bedroom has raised beds accessed by fixed wooden steps, which sit above a large rear garage with doors (both 120cm by 100cm) on both sides. Thanks to the lowered chassis extension, there is enough space for bikes, sports gear and camping equipment in the garage, which has a lashing rail to securely fasten cargo.

On the exterior, a 6m awning is fitted as standard.

Active pack available to trend

For the 2026 season, Dethleffs is also launching its best-selling Trend motorhome range (both A-class and low-profile) with its Active special edition pack.

In Germany, the pack saves €6,000 if all the included equipment was ordered as optional extras. While the UK price saving has not yet been announced, it will be in the thousands of pounds.

Built on the Ducato, the Trend Active come with exclusive GT stickers and a black metallic cab (low-profiles only) and 16” alloy wheels.

A Naviceiver with 10-inch display and a reversing camera also come as standard, as do cab blinds in the low-profiles.

Inside, all Active models get light Heron upholstery with colour-coordinated leather-look accents and a habitation door that is linked to the cab’s central locking system for added convenience.

A key interior feature is Dethleffs’ “Light Moments” lighting concept, which provides mood lighting throughout the living and sleeping areas. It includes ambient lighting for the overhead lockers, indirect lighting along the walls, an illuminated kitchen rear panel and ambient lighting in the washroom. In addition, the washrooms in all Trend Active models – with the exception of the Trend 6617 – are equipped with a window and a non-slip shower tray.

The Active editions are also equipped with a DAB+ radio antenna and speakers are also included as standard, as well as pre-wiring for satellite TV, plus solar panels and air-conditioning.

Globetrail campervans

Finally, for the coming season, Dethleffs has given its Globetrail campervan range a major upgrade that includes a host of new and enhanced features – from flush-fitting windows and soft-close kitchen drawers to disc-spring support systems for the rear beds.

In addition, it is introducing a special “95 Years” equipment package for all nine Globetrail layouts. The package commemorates the company’s founder, Arist Dethleffs, and his creation of the first German caravan in 1931.

A key enhancement is the upgraded sleeping area with all Globetrails now featuring mattresses with disc-spring support – whether configured with single or double beds, installed lengthwise or transversely. These systems use multiple sprung plastic elements that adapt individually to the sleeper’s body. The central section of the rear beds – which folds up sideways to accommodate bulky items like bicycles – has also been redesigned for greater stability and now rests directly on the bed base without the need for additional supports.

In the single-bed versions, the central foot-end section now features a standard extension element that allows the two beds to be combined into one large sleeping area.

Among the new features are kitchen drawers with soft-close mechanisms and push-locks and handle-free overhead locker doors with a straight-edged finish. In addition, the kitchen rear panel has been redesigned and is now backlit.

The campervans’ standard specification also now includes flush-fitting windows.

All Globetrail models are built on the 140hp manual Fiat Ducato as standard with an option for an automatic gearbox and an upgrade to the more powerful 180hp (132 kW) version with automatic transmission.

An optional ACC chassis package with adaptive cruise control is now also available as is an increased permissible total weight of 4,250kg is available for all 6m and longer models.

For those looking for more equipment, the 95 Years Pack is available on all Globetrail campervans for 2026.

From the outside, vehicles equipped with the pack stand out thanks to black skid plates, colour-coded bumpers, fog lights, unique graphics, an awning and an additional rear side window. The special edition models are also equipped with a range of driver assistance systems, including blind spot assist, driver fatigue detection and adaptive cruise control. The pack also includes automatic cab air-con, a reversing camera, a 10-inch radio navigation system and a wireless charging pad for mobile phones.
